
The Inter-Island Advisory Commission on Commerce has unanimously approved the opening schedule for commercial businesses in the Balearic Islands 2026, which sets out the ten days when shops will be allowed to open on public holidays and Sundays. The meeting was held at the Ministry of Enterprise, Self-Employed and Energy, with representatives from the island councils, trade unions and industry associations attending.
Authorised days for commercial openings in 2026
The opening schedule for commercial businesses in the Balearic Islands 2026 includes the following days:

4 January: Sunday before Epiphany.

18 January: Sunday.

8 March: Sunday.

2 April: Maundy Thursday.

15 August: Saturday, Assumption Day (may be substituted by local councils).

6 September: Sunday before the start of the school term (may be substituted by local councils).

29 November: Sunday after Black Friday.

6 December: Constitution Day.

20 December: Sunday.

26 December: Saturday, Second Christmas Day.
The schedule establishes that 15 August and 6 September may be substituted by other public holidays at the discretion of the local councils, providing greater flexibility at the local level.
The Director-General of Enterprise, Self-Employed and Commerce, Pedrona Seguí, wished to congratulate all representatives of the commercial sector in the Balearic Islands “for their goodwill and positive approach in reaching an agreement to finalise a beneficial schedule with the approval of all those present”.
