The labour market of the Balearic Islands closed September with a drop in unemployment of 6.8% compared to the same month last year, which equals 1,908 fewer unemployed people and brings the total to 26,054 unemployed.

Despite this annual decline, compared to August there was a slight monthly increase of 86 people (+0.3%), related to the end of part of the tourist season, according to the Minister of Labour, Public Function and Social Dialogue, Catalina Cabrer.
The administrative unemployment rate stands at 3.8%, an indicator that confirms an environment of near full employment in the autonomous community.
“The Balearic Islands are recording a historically low number of unemployed people, with a significant reduction over the past year. We have observed that September is consolidating as a high season month, just like July and August,” Cabrer highlighted.
