From August 13 to 17, 2025, Palma de Mallorca will host the XXX Illes Balears Clàssics Regatta, a landmark nautical event in the Mediterranean that will bring together 40 historic vessels and true maritime treasures such as the Tuiga (1909) and The Lady Anne (1912). Organized by the Club de Mar-Mallorca, this event celebrates three decades as an unmissable meeting point for lovers of vintage sailing and the preservation of maritime heritage.
Legendary Vessels and Exclusive Debuts

Among the highlights of this edition is the participation of the Cariad, a 36-metre sailing yacht built in 1896, making its regatta debut. Joining it will be unmistakable classics such as Manitou, The Lady Anne and Tuiga, as well as large yachts like the Doña Francisca, which this year will be part of the special Presencia section, designed for unique boats that take part without competing.
The vessels will compete in categories such as Classics, Gaff Rig, Bermuda Rig, RI Classics, Spirit of Tradition and Large Yachts. The courses will range from 8 to 22 miles, including a long-distance race that will put the crews’ skills to the test.
Economic Impact and Commitment to Sustainability
The Club de Mar-Mallorca estimates an economic return of €1.7 million for the Balearic community, 25% more than in the previous edition. In addition, the event strengthens its environmental commitment: proceeds from beverage sales will be donated in full to the Almas Marinas Foundation, and in collaboration with Sail4Earth, an award will be given to the vessel that donates the most to the protection of marine reserves through the Uno Earth app.
Social Programme and Cultural Activities
Beyond the competition, the Illes Balears Clàssics Regatta 2025 will offer a social and cultural programme to bring the history and charm of classic sailing closer to the public. Scheduled activities include:
-
Photography exhibition by Nico Martínez.
-
Lecture by the Spanish Navy’s sailing delegate, Ricardo Álvarez Maldonado.
-
Guided tours of the docks with Leonardo de Vincentiis to learn the history of each boat.
-
Post-regatta cocktails for crews and participants.
A Key Event in the International Sailing Calendar
This competition is part of the XV Mare Nostrum Classics Trophy – Spanish Cup of Classic Sailing, the CIM Circuit 2025 (Mediterranean International Championship) and the Mediterranean Champions Cup, organized by the Vintage Classic Yacht Club (VCYC). Its celebration in Palma reinforces the city’s position as a leading destination for high-end nautical tourism.
