From August 18 to 20, Club Pollença will host the twelfth edition of the Setmana d’Arquitectura i Disseny, featuring eight internationally renowned figures in design and architecture. Three days of public talks focused on sustainability, landscape, and new ways of inhabiting the environment.

A flagship cultural event in the Balearic Islands

Setmana d’Arquitectura i Disseny Club Pollença celebrates its 12th edition, consolidating its position as a key meeting point for professionals, students, and enthusiasts of contemporary architecture and design. The event will take place from August 18 to 20, 2025 in the historic saló of Club Pollença, with free admission upon prior reservation via Eventbrite.

This edition will focus on innovation, sustainability, and dialogue with the natural and built environment, with lectures by internationally renowned architects and designers working across diverse disciplines, from urban planning and furniture design to ephemeral architecture.

The speakers of this edition

Here is a brief introduction to each of the featured speakers:

Javier Jiménez Iniesta – Studio Animal

Based in Madrid and Barcelona, this studio has received awards such as the FAD Interior Design Prize and the Frame Award. Their work promotes a “super-optimistic” vision of architecture with a strong academic and experimental component.

Kersten Geers – OFFICE

Founder of one of Europe’s most influential studios, OFFICE promotes a cultural, sustainable, and critical approach to architecture. Their work includes large-scale projects such as the Aerospacelab megafactory. Geers teaches at universities including Harvard and Mendrisio.

Mariona Benedito

Award-winning architect with a career focused on social housing, public architecture, and ephemeral installations. She is currently co-curator of the UIA World Congress of Architecture 2026 in Barcelona.

Sabine Marcelis

Dutch designer based in Rotterdam, internationally recognized for her minimalist and sensory style. She has collaborated with brands like Dior and Fendi and exhibited at MoMA and the Mies van der Rohe Pavilion in Barcelona.

Pau Munar – Munarq

Mallorcan architecture with strong local roots and a sustainable vision. Munarq emphasizes respect for the landscape and the use of natural materials, reinterpreting the island’s building traditions.

Marta Colón and Juan Palencia – Isla

Founders of a studio with a contextual and collaborative approach. They have taken part in the Venice Biennale and work with universities worldwide. Their projects blend local craftsmanship with contemporary innovation.

Marc Morro

Mallorcan industrial designer based in Barcelona, focused on functional and austere furniture. He rejects ornamentation in favor of material honesty: “A chair is a chair.”

Club Pollença: over a century of cultural engagement

Founded in 1910 as a cycling club, the Club Pollença is now one of the cultural landmarks of northern Mallorca. Throughout the year, it hosts exhibitions, lecture series, and concerts, with the Setmana d’Arquitectura i Disseny being one of its most prominent events.

With an open, contemporary, and community-driven vision, the Club continues to be a cultural engine for Pollença and a space for reflection on future challenges.
