Palma is hosting this week Paysage Miró, an ambitious exhibition project dedicated to the artistic legacy of Joan Miró, simultaneously displayed across four iconic venues: La Llotja, the Fundació Miró Mallorca, es Baluard Museu d’Art Contemporani, and the Casal Solleric. This initiative, considered the most significant cultural action ever dedicated to Miró in the Balearic Islands, brings together more than one hundred works spanning from 1916 to 1981.

The project, the result of collaboration between the Balearic Government, the Palma City Council, the Reina Sofía National Art Centre Museum, and various cultural institutions, offers a plural and complementary perspective on the artist’s career. A parallel exhibition at the Museu de Mallorca, organised by the Island Council, highlights Miró’s contribution to contemporary art in Mallorca.
Paysage Miró: four perspectives on the artist
Paysage Miró is structured around four exhibitions, each exploring different dimensions of Miró’s work and thought:
- ‘La guspira màgica’, at the Fundació Miró Mallorca, is open until 11 November 2025. It features 38 works by Miró and other artists —including Picasso, Kandinsky, Calder, and Giacometti— along with over 250 personal objects and documents from Taller Sert, Son Boter, and his house in Son Abrines. The exhibition focuses on the role of chance, unexpected encounters, and Miró’s living environment in his creative process.
- ‘La força inicial’ opens today, Thursday, at La Llotja (8 p.m.) and will remain open until 8 February 2026. While curatorial details have yet to be fully disclosed, this exhibition is expected to be one of the most impactful of the series.
- ‘El color i la seva ombra’ will open tomorrow, Friday (7:30 p.m.), at the Casal Solleric. It offers a non-linear journey through Miró’s visual universe, highlighting the dialogue between painting and sculpture. The exhibition includes 40 pieces —many of them never before shown in the Balearic Islands— mainly from the Reina Sofía collection. It focuses on his bronze sculptures from the 1960s and 70s, shaped by folk art, found objects, and primitive symbolism. The exhibition runs until 9 November 2025.
- ‘Pintar entre les coses’, the final exhibition to open, will do so this Friday at 8:30 p.m. at es Baluard. This final chapter adds a contemporary art perspective and will also remain open until 9 November 2025.

The majority of works come from the Reina Sofía collection, but contributions also include pieces from the Fundació Miró Mallorca, the Fundació Miró Barcelona, the Fundació Mas Miró in Mont-roig, MACBA, es Baluard, Galeria Pelaires, and private collections. Together, they offer a unique opportunity to rediscover Miró’s oeuvre through painting, sculpture, graphic work, personal documents, and everyday objects.
Visitors can consult full opening hours and details on the websites of the participating venues. Admission is free in all municipal spaces.
