This Saturday, 28 June, the Passeig del Born will be filled with flavour and tradition during the celebration of the III Fira de l’Ametlla de Mallorca (Mallorcan Almond Fair). The event will take place between 11:00 am and 8:00 pm, bringing together the best of local production around one of the island’s most iconic ingredients: the almond.
Organised by the Geographical Indication (IGP) ‘Ametlla de Mallorca’, the fair aims to highlight the value of this native product and its key role in the island’s cuisine. Throughout the day, visitors will be able to discover, taste, and purchase products made with Mallorcan almonds, such as gató, ice cream, chocolate, cheese, sweet and savoury tapas, among other delicacies.
The Mallorcan almond stands out thanks to its high lipid content and fatty acid profile, which, together with its aromatic intensity, gives it a unique flavour and character. Whether raw or roasted, with or without skin, in both organic and conventional forms, this almond is a true culinary gem with countless uses, deeply rooted in the island’s gastronomic culture.
Support from PalmaActiva for the III Fira de l’Ametlla de Mallorca
The event also enjoys the support of Palma City Council through PalmaActiva, which has helped with managing the public space and promoting the event. As a sign of this institutional support, the Councillor for Commerce, Catering and the Self-Employed, Lupe Ferrer, and the Director General of Commerce, Toni Fuster, will visit the fair this Saturday.
In addition to its gastronomic appeal, the fair also aims to boost commercial activity in central Palma, attracting both residents and visitors in a festive atmosphere full of local flavours.
