For the first time in history, the Goya Award for Best Film was awarded ex aequo to two productions: La infiltrada and El 47. Both films, which have also been well received by audiences, were the standout productions at the Goya Awards 2025, in one of the most evenly contested ceremonies in recent years, with a total of nine films winning awards.

El 47, directed by Marcel Barrera and based on the true story of a bus driver who hijacked his own vehicle to demand better conditions for his neighbourhood in Torre Baró (Barcelona), won five awards out of the 14 it was nominated for, including Best Film, Best Supporting Actor and Actress (Salva Reina and Clara Segura, respectively), Best Production Design, and Best Special Effects.

Meanwhile, La infiltrada started with 13 nominations and secured two awards at the Goya Awards 2025: Best Film and Best Leading Actress for Carolina Yuste, who won the second Goya of her career.

Eduard Fernández won the Best Leading Actor award for his role in Marco, a drama directed by Jon Garaño and Aitor Arregi about Enric Marco Batlle, the trade unionist who falsified his biography to present himself as a survivor of a Nazi concentration camp. Additionally, Marco also won the award for Best Makeup and Hairstyling.

Segundo premio, filmed in Granada, won three awards: Best Director (Isaki Lacuesta and Pol Rodríguez), Best Editing, and Best Sound. Meanwhile, La habitación de al lado, by Pedro Almodóvar, won Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Cinematography, and Best Original Score.

The ceremony, hosted by Maribel Verdú and Leonor Watling, also paid tribute to Marisa Paredes, who passed away in December, and celebrated the legacy of Mar adentro, the most awarded film in Goya history.

Honorary and International Goya: Aitana Sánchez-Gijón and Richard Gere, highlights of the night

One of the most emotional moments of the gala was the presentation of the Honorary Goya to Aitana Sánchez-Gijón. With this recognition, she becomes the ninth woman to receive this distinction. In her speech, the actress reflected on her career, recalling her four decades in cinema and her early beginnings in theatre at just 12 years old in La Barraca.

Meanwhile, the International Goya was awarded to Richard Gere, in a heartfelt presentation by Antonio Banderas. With the audience on their feet and an ovation lasting several minutes, the star of Pretty Woman and American Gigolo expressed his gratitude for the award, which comes in a particularly special year for him: the 50th anniversary of his film debut.
