The Balearic Islands leads in August the number of hotel overnight stays of non-resident tourists and occupancy per square of all Spain, ahead of Catalonia and the Canary Islands. This is according to the survey of hotel tourism published this Friday by the National Statistics Institute (INE)<\/p>\n

The Balearic Islands was the main destination chosen by non-resident tourists in Spain during the month of August, with 34.2% of the total number of overnight stays in Spain. The following destinations are Catalonia and the Canary Islands, with 21.5% and 17.7% of the total respectively. This is shown by the survey of the Hotel Tourism Situation published this Friday by the National Institute of Statistics.<\/p>\n

Likewise, the archipelago is the sixth community preferred by tourists residing in Spain, with 6.1% of the overnight stays. Andalusia, Catalonia and Valencia are the main destinations of these travelers in August, with 23.6%, 14.9% and 12.8% of total overnight stays respectively.<\/p>\n

In addition, the Balearic Islands is the autonomous community with the highest occupancy rate by bedplaces during August, with 89.5% of the total. This was followed by the Basque Country, with 80.9%.<\/p>\n

By tourist areas, Palma-Calvi\u00e0 has the highest occupancy rate by bedplaces (90.1%), and the highest weekend occupancy rate (90.3%). Mallorca registered the highest number of overnight stays in August, with 8,278,041. The tourist spots with the highest number of overnight stays were Barcelona, Calvi\u00e0 and Madrid. Santa Margalida has the highest occupancy rate by bedplaces (97.6%) and Llucmajor has the highest weekend occupancy rate (95.3%).<\/p>\n

The highest increase in hotel prices in August 2023 with respect to the same month last year is also in the Balearic Islands (9.6%).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
