<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"During the first six months of this year, the 061 Emergency Medical Care Service (SAMU 061) of the Balearic Islands carried out, on average, fifteen emergency patient transfers every hour, a figure extrapolated from the total number of patient transfers to different hospitals, which was 41,284.<\/p>\n
The number of activations of advanced life support ambulances (SVA, equipped with technician, doctor and nurse) was 9,671. In addition, a rapid intervention vehicle (VIR) was sent on 3,181 occasions. In total, the basic life support ambulances (BLS) have been activated 48,616 times. Therefore, the half-yearly balance is that SAMU 061 resources have been activated 63,805 times.<\/p>\n
For its part, the air transport service – managed by SAMU 061 itself – has already carried out 830 transfers between islands and to the mainland in the same period, which represents 15% more than in the same half of 2022.<\/p>\n
In terms of the number of telephone calls, the Medical Emergencies Coordination Centre handled 407,772 between January and June 2023, of which 211,004 were to 061, attending a total of 122,488 users, but it should be noted that half of the cases were handled without the need to send a mobile health resource from 061.<\/p>\n
The resources available to SAMU 061 are three aircraft (two helicopters and a plane) and a reserve plane to cover situations in which one of the vehicles is not operational; it also has 37 operational bases throughout the Balearic Islands, 3 air team bases and 5 heli-spots.<\/p>\n
