The Baltic Sea coast is about to undergo an unprecedented transformation with the arrival of a new tourist landmark in the Bay of L\u00fcbeck: D\u00fcnenpark, the Gr\u00f6mitz dune park. An ambitious project that many are already calling “Germany’s Mallorca”. It is a seaside promenade with pavilions and buildings, including a beach club, restaurants, shops and all the services of a beach resort.<\/p>\n

According to the German daily Hamburger Morgenpost, D\u00fcnenpark will receive an investment of more than 32 million euros. Facilities such as the “Surf Rescue Club”, a hostel with integrated facilities for the resort and a rescue tower, are expected to be ready this year. This building would be open all year round and would mainly house the lifeguards operating in the area. In 2024, if all goes according to plan, it will be the turn of the beach club and the shops and restaurants. The water and adventure park would have to wait longer. The German “Majorca” in Gr\u00f6mitz is expected to be completed in 2025.<\/p>\n

Interestingly, anyone can follow the state of construction of this new tourist complex, which this season has started to receive the first tourists, as different live cameras provide images of the site<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Dune Park, translated into English, began to be built in July 2021 and will soon be the new tourist attraction in the municipality of Gr\u00f6mitz. However, it is not the only enclave in the Bay of L\u00fcbeck that is undergoing a million-dollar revitalisation in order to please its visitors. Similar projects are in the pipeline in Scharbeutz and Haffkrug.<\/p>\n

While some speak of a German “Majorca”, a large part of the public knows that this project has little to do with the Mediterranean island. Moreover, there are also many voices against bringing overcrowding to a hitherto quiet area.<\/p>\n
