In June, the Balearic Islands was the region with the second largest fall in property sales and purchases, with -29.8%, only surpassed by the Canary Islands. This is reflected in data from the General Council of Notaries, where the archipelago doubled the national fall in sales and purchases, which stood at -14.5%.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, despite the fact that in Spain the price per square metre fell by 2.6% year-on-year, the Balearic Islands recorded a further increase, specifically by 10.3%, behind only Castile-La Mancha. Thus, the average price per square metre on the islands was valued at 3,471 euros, the most expensive in Spain. For their part, mortgage loans for house purchases did not register increases in any autonomous region. In this sense, the Balearic Islands was the third autonomous community, behind Cantabria and Navarre, in which these loans fell the most: -28,7%.
