It has also been decided to remove the 80 kilometers per hour limit on the Via de Cintura<\/p>\n<p>After the first meeting of the Consell Executiu of this legislature, the president of the Consell de Mallorca, Lloren\u00e7 Galm\u00e9s, announced that the institution has requested a meeting with the Government Delegation and the Directorate General of Traffic (DGT) to eliminate the bus-VAO lane.<\/p>\n<p>Thus the main measure agreed by the Consell Executiu is the request for this meeting with the Government Delegate in the Balearic Islands, Aina Calvo, and the Directorate General of Traffic with the aim of eliminating the bus-VAO lane that connects Palma with the airport of the city. Galm\u00e9s has stated that it is a state competence but that &#8220;we do not want to waste a minute and we will ask for this meeting to get to work immediately&#8221;. In this way, Galm\u00e9s sets in motion one of the main commitments of the Government Agreements for Mallorca.<\/p>\n<p>The other agreed decision is to commission technical studies to establish a speed limit on the Ma-20, the Via de Cintura, thus eliminating the current maximum of 80 kilometers per hour. The president of the Consell has recalled that so far &#8220;the fatal accident rate has increased&#8221; and that, therefore, &#8220;it is a failed measure&#8221;.
