Tour operators and hoteliers warn of a decrease in tourist bookings to the islands in the last three weeks although the volume is still close to the figures for 2019<\/p>\n

The summer season is breaking the rhythm of optimism it has been registering. This is highlighted by the main tour operators and hoteliers of the islands who warn of a decrease in bookings to the Balearic Islands in the last three weeks.<\/p>\n

For their part, the tour operators claim that bookings have fallen sharply, while in the case of German tourism they started the year strongly and have reflected a downward trend. In the case of the British market, bookings started later. According to them, the main concerns are the high ticket prices as well as the shortage of seats on the planes. They regret that with the increase in air fares the package tour is very expensive.<\/p>\n

At the moment, the hoteliers announce that the hotel occupancy for this summer is less than 100 %, and no offers are being made at the moment. Despite this, sales are at 2019 figures.<\/p>\n

\nAirport traffic on the rise<\/h2>\n

According to Airports Council International Europe (ACI) airlines are setting fares six times the rate of inflation. This is revealed in a report for the month of April. With regard to passenger traffic, it states that in the Balearic Islands it has grown by 21% compared to the same month in 2022, although it is 7.6% below 2019. Therefore, the rise in prices has not affected the demand for Easter holidays.<\/p>\n

As regards the rest of the airports in Europe, in Germany there is a fall of 26%; in London-Heathrow (+26%), Istanbul (+34%), Paris-Charles de Gaulle (+19%), Amsterdam-Schiphol (15%) and Madrid (+20%), Palma (+8.7%), Athens (+5.6%), Lisbon (+5.6%) or Dublin (+0.9%).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
