The Balearic Islands continues to reduce unemployment in February, with 35,200 unemployed, 17,304 less than a year earlier. The Community leads the year-on-year decline in unemployment in February in Spain<\/strong><\/p>\n

In February, the Balearic Islands has 35,200 unemployed, so it continues to reduce the unemployment lists. This represents 354 fewer (-1%) than in January and 17,304 fewer if compared with February 2022 (-32.96%). This is the result of the data published this Thursday by the Ministry of Labour and Social Economy.<\/p>\n

Balearic Islands, which most reduces unemployment compared to the rest of Spain<\/h2>\n

The Balearic Islands is the Community that most reduces unemployment in year-on-year comparison, while in Spain as a whole it rises by 2,618 people this month due to the rise in unemployment among young people, women and foreigners.<\/p>\n

Compared to the same month in 2019, the year before the pandemic, it fell by 39.4%.<\/p>\n

22,500 more contracts; most of them permanent contracts<\/h2>\n

Almost 3,500 unemployed in the islands are under 25 years of age. Unemployment fell in all sectors but mainly in services. 22,500 contracts were signed<\/strong>: 5.7% more than in January but 15.4% less than a year ago. Seven out of ten were permanent contracts.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Social Security registered in February an average of 463,606 people employed in the Balearic Islands.<\/p>\n

From the Govern highlights the call for more than 19,000 permanent discontinuous<\/strong> since the start of the year in the Balearic Islands, 34% more than on the same dates in 2019 and double if compared to 2015.<\/p>\n

The trade unions<\/strong> Comisiones Obreras and UGT remark that the reduction of unemployment is maintained, but a significant gap between men and women in labor terms continues. They also demand wage increases<\/strong>, especially in view of the continuous rise in food, energy and housing prices.<\/p>\n

For their part, the employers’<\/strong> associations of the Small and Medium Enterprises of Mallorca, PIMEM, and the Confederation of Business Associations of the Balearic Islands, CAEB, emphasize the business dynamism and the commitment to permanent hiring at the gates of the tourist season.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
