275,000 euros will be invested in the reconstruction of the Quart Misteri de Lluc. This important heritage site in the cultural landscape of the Tramuntana region was designed by Antoni Gaud\u00ed at the beginning of the 20th century<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Quart Misteri de Lluc is part of the ensemble that was built at the beginning of the 20th century by Joan Rub\u00ed and Guillem Reyn\u00e9s, with the advice of Antoni Gaud\u00ed. It represents the mysteries of the Rosary.<\/p>\n

In 2020, adverse weather conditions deteriorated the IV Misteri del Pujol dels Misteris, located in the surroundings of the Lluc Sanctuary, which was already suffering from a deficient foundation. Because of its condition, access to the public was permanently closed. The month of November 2021 fell after an episode of very heavy rains.<\/p>\n

The Consell de Mallorca, through the Consorci Serra de Tramuntana<\/a>, has allocated a grant of \u20ac275,000.00 to the Fundaci\u00f3 Santuari de Lluc for the restoration and reconstruction of the Quart Misteri.<\/p>\n

Serra de Tramuntana, a World Heritage Site<\/h2>\n

Catalina Cladera, President of the Consell de Mallorca, remarked that this monumental complex, along with the natural and spiritual setting of the Santuari de Lluc, “is in keeping with the values and heritage elements that merited the Serra de Tramuntana’s declaration as a World Heritage Site<\/a>, and in this sense we must recover the monument in order to preserve this heritage”.<\/p>\n

The construction was already in danger of collapse due to poor foundations at the time of its construction, which had worsened over the years. After the fall, the Fundaci\u00f3 Santuari de Lluc carried out topographical and structural studies and exhaustive scans of the entire monument.<\/p>\n

The studies carried out will allow a reliable reconstruction and the recovery of almost all the original materials. The work begun by the Foundation in the preliminary phase consisted of lifting and collecting all the pieces, scattered and piled up after its fall, in order to analyse, classify and order them.<\/p>\n

A first phase, which began at the end of November and the beginning of December 2022, has already been completed and had a budget of \u20ac45,000 provided by the Fundaci\u00f3 Santuari de Lluc.<\/p>\n

Once this first phase has been completed, and following an analysis of the terrain by means of a geotechnical study, the project will now be drawn up with all the appropriate actions for the definitive reconstruction and restoration of the Quart Misteri de Lluc.<\/p>\n

According to the Consell de Mallorca, this is a large-scale project, as the collapsed monument was 11 metres long and 11 metres high, built entirely of limestone and weighing approximately 220 tonnes. The second phase, which will consist of reconstruction, will take one year.<\/p>\n
