The Balearic Islands have registered a new record for tourist spending in the month of November, according to data published by the National Institute of Statistics. Compared to the same month in 2021, the expenditure made by tourists on the island has grown by 15.9% and by 1% compared to 2019, when the pandemic had not yet arrived and tourists left 188.2 million euros on the islands.<\/p>\n
Travellers visiting the Balearics in November spent an average of \u20ac1,149, 3.9% more than in 2021. However, the average daily expenditure has fallen by 0.8% to \u20ac131, due to the fact that stays have lengthened to 8.7 days on average (+4.8%). \u00a0Up to November, according to data provided by the Government, the average expenditure per visitor was 835 \u20ac, 5.3% more than in 2019 (793 \u20ac), while the average daily expenditure was 115 \u20ac, one euro below the figure for 2019.<\/p>\n
The islands welcomed a total of 165,403 international tourists in the eleventh month of the year, 9.5 % less than in 2019 but 11.4 % more than in 2021. Of these, 50.4% were German and 10.3% French.<\/p>\n
The Balearic Islands, which in November attracted 3.8 % of international travellers choosing Spain, remains the region that attracts the most tourists. Up to November 2022, it received 13.1 million international tourists, double the number of the previous year.<\/p>\n
The Councillor for Economic Model, Tourism and Employment, Iago Negueruela, assesses “very positively” the evolution of tourism activity: “The economy of the Islands continues to show strength even in the months of less activity, and with a number of visitors that already exceeds those of November 2019, a fact that allows us to continue working for a better deseasonalisation of tourism activity”.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
