Christmas 2022 is approaching in Mallorca and after the switching on of the lights on Saturday the 19th, Palma Town Hall has now inaugurated the Nativity Scene and the Royal Mailbox. A popular nativity scene made up of 250 clay figures, Mallorcan-style, dressed to the nines. The pieces are handmade and hand-painted by Margalida Nicolau expressly for this Nativity Scene.<\/p>\n
In addition to the nativity scene, the cave of the annunciation of the kings and the usual figures of a nativity scene, there are also everyday scenes from the streets of the city and the countryside, as well as the traditional figures of the frare amagat and the drac de na Coca.<\/p>\n
The aim of the Association of Bethlehemists of Mallorca is to promote nativity scenes all over the island. For weeks it has been in charge of setting up this stage, which includes the models of Palma City Hall, the Consell de Mallorca and the building on Carrer de la Cadena, on a larger scale than in previous years, so that the figures in the surrounding area can be better observed.<\/p>\n
The entire Nativity Scene is also decorated with the typical hand-cut wafers, one by one.<\/p>\n
The Nativity Scene will remain in the foyer of the Town Hall, as usual, until 6 January. Citizens can visit it from 9:00 to 20:30 from Monday to Friday and from 10:00 to 20:00 on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.<\/p>\n
