The Walking Cities Congress will be held in Palma on 6, 7 and 8 October. Round tables, conferences and walks with urban planners, activists, experts in sustainable mobility and municipal officials from different cities make up the congress programme.<\/p>\n
On Thursday, 6 October, the annual Assembly of Ciudades que Caminan, a network that brings together some 80 cities and institutions, will be held. On Friday, 7 October, the ninth Congress of Walking Cities will take place at the Official College of Architects, a day of exchange of ideas and pioneering experiences. Access is free and open to the public with prior registration on the event’s website.<\/p>\n
The town planner Jos\u00e9 Luis Ca\u00f1avate and Paula Garcia, founder of the initiative “Towards a more Human City”, will give a talk entitled “Human Cities”.<\/p>\n
The day will continue on Friday 7 with two round tables, one on well-being zones, with the participation of the Mayor of Pontevedra, Miguel Anxo, the coordinator of Ciudades que Caminan, Ana Montalb\u00e1n, the former Technical Advisor for Mobility of Madrid City Council, Carlos Corral, and the Councillor for Mobility of Valladolid, Luis V\u00e9lez.<\/p>\n
In the afternoon it will be the turn of a debate on synergies and urban views between the activist Sonia Jichi, the coordinator of Mobility City, Jaime Armengol and the president of the Rede de ciudades e vilas que caminham Paula Teles.<\/p>\n
At the end, the round table on desired spaces will begin with the participation of the architect and town planner of the European University of Madrid, Mateus Oporto, the deputy mayor for Sustainable Mobility, Francesc Dalmau, the mayor of Ma\u00f3, H\u00e9ctor Pons, the councillor for Town Planning and Mobility of A Coru\u00f1a, Francisco Dinis and the deputy of Pontevedra, Ux\u00edo Ben\u00edtez.<\/p>\n
