The Parliament of the Balearic Islands has approved this Tuesday one of the star initiatives of the Balearic Government in this legislature, the new tourism law.<\/p>\n

The regulation, which includes a temporary moratorium and freezes the current stock of tourist places for four years, has had the support of all the partners of the Government, while from the opposition, El Pi and Ciudadanos have partially supported the text, and both PP and Vox have opposed it. In fact, the PP have announced that they will approve a new law if they accede to the government of the Balearic Islands next year.<\/p>\n

According to the words of the conseller de Model Econ\u00f2mic, Turisme y Treball, Iago Negueruela, “we have practically reached the limit of our capacity”. The Balearic Islands currently have more than 600,000 tourist places and Negueruela assures that “it is time to grow in quality and not in quantity.”<\/p>\n

The new regional tourism law will imply a public investment of 60 million euros and a substantial change towards the tourism model of the future: environmentally and labor responsible.<\/p>\n

The legislation includes, among others, obligations such as elevating beds to avoid occupational illnesses among chambermaids, the implementation of water-saving systems and the limitation of plastic and paper, and respect for local products with the traceability of food from the islands.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
