The beaches of Cala Major, Ciudad Jard\u00edn, Can Pere Antoni and Cala Est\u00e0ncia will have a Wi-Fi network this summer with optimal coverage for the first time. The current smart Wi-Fi network reaches Playa de Palma and other tourist spots in the city such as Paseo del Born or Plaza Joan Carles I.<\/p>\n
The Councilor for Tourism, Health and Consumption, Elena Navarro, explained that this project, which is part of the Impulse Plan, has the objective of consolidating the commitment to make Palma a sustainable, safe and intelligent tourist destination. \u201cThe extension of the Wi-Fi coverage will not cost the City Council at any cost and, in addition, the new contract allows us to consolidate Palma’s commitment as a smart tourist destination; the new technological system provides us with data that allows us to have a better understanding of the digital tourism impact and better adjust tourism policies\u201d, explained the councillor.<\/p>\n
Navarro has highlighted the improvement in “quality” that this contract will entail, which will allow “applying other projects of the Impulse Plan that would not be possible without this improvement in coverage”, he said and recalled that one of the novel points is that sensors can be installed that allow collecting data that can be centralized, interpreted and improved strategies of different municipal areas.<\/p>\n
Among other advantages, the new contract will allow direct availability of data on the capacity of the beaches without having to depend on the lifeguard service, as had been done even with the Platges App.<\/p>\n
