With the presence of artists, politicians and the general public, Mallorca has celebrated the 17th edition of Art Palma Brunch with an ambitious program that allowed discovering different trends in the contemporary art scene. <\/span><\/p>\n

Almost 40 artists of different nationalities, generations and plastic languages \u200b\u200bcame together in multiple proposals with the participation of the ABA Art Lab, CCA Andratx, Fran Reus, Horrach Moy\u00e0, Kewenig, L21, Maior, Pelaires, Bar\u00f3, Pep Llabr\u00e9s and Xavier Fiol galleries. . The BIBI Gallery also joined the Art Palma Brunch as an associated space, with individual proposals by the Ukrainian artist Aljoscha at Sant Francesc Hotel and Michael Staniak at Can Vivot. At the beginning of the day the weather did not help. Palma dawned cold and cloudy, but little by little the public began to approach the galleries.<\/span><\/p>\n

Art Palma Brunch: art for all tastes<\/strong><\/h1>\n

In Bar\u00f3, for example, the painting, ceramics and drawings and mural interventions by Albert Pinya (1985, Palma) conquered children and adults. It is an exhibition that runs until May 21 under the name BAAGUNDI!, the result of the experience that Pinya lived in India during 2020 in the city of Anantapur.<\/span><\/p>\n

For their part, the works of Antoni T\u00e0pies, Jannis Kounellis and Gori Mora welcomed the elegant Galeria Pelaires. Frederic Pinya, president of Art Palma, accompanied the president of the Government, Francina Armengol, and other politicians such as the general director of Culture, Catalina Solivellas, on the tour.<\/span><\/p>\n

From Palma to Andraitx <\/span><\/h2>\n

Most of the proposals could be visited in the center of Palma, walking comfortably between one gallery and another, from the historic center to the nearby neighbourhoods; but in addition, two of the proposals were made outside the city. <\/span><\/p>\n

The painting of the North American artist Andrew Jilke (Brooklyn, USA, 1986) and the French Samuel Boutrouche (Paris, 1979) in CCA Andratx, and the one of the painter Maria Lara (Granada, 1940) in the Pollen\u00e7a space of the veteran Gallery Major.<\/span><\/p>\n

This edition also offered a wide participation of artists from the Balearic Islands, both with a long career such as Antoni Pedraza (Menorca, 1969) at ABA Art Lab or Girbent (S\u00f3ller, 1969) at the Horrach Moy\u00e0 Gallery, as well as emerging young people, although with a certain international presence such as Bartomeu Sastre (Palma, 1986) at the Fran Reus Gallery, Francesc Rossell\u00f3 (Palma, 1994) or Gori Mora (born in Mallorca in 1992 and resident in Glasgow). <\/span><\/p>\n

Painting was consolidated as one of the expressive languages \u200b\u200bmost used by creators, although examples of installations, photography, sculpture and video were not lacking. There was a great variety of works with historical, figurative and abstract resonances, but also proposals with political content or more attentive to socioeconomic dynamics and the relationship with the omnipresent technology.<\/span><\/p>\n
