Users of the Palma NitBus network will be able to ask the driver for the bus to stop at its closest point to their destination from Friday 11 March. The measure seeks to provide urban mobility with a gender perspective for security reasons.<\/p>\n
The mayor of Palma, Jose Hila, has explained what this measure consists of. “We think of the city as a woman. Today we present an initiative that affects public transport: the purple strike; the NitBus will stop at the point closest to the users’ homes,” she said, recalling that this measure “is an example of how to incorporate the perspective of women into public services, we work to make it possible\u201d.<\/p>\n
To publicize the purple strike on the NitBus, this Friday one of the buses on the NitBus N1 line, which will depart at 10:45 p.m. from Plaza de Espanya, will be dyed purple with ultraviolet light inside and will also incorporate music. In addition, the EMT Palma will carry out an information campaign with the slogan “Travel in peace with the purple unemployment” through social networks.<\/p>\n
The objective is to avoid situations of harassment or gender violence and to contribute to making public transport in Palma safer. The on-demand stoppage system already exists on certain public transport lines in other large cities such as Valencia, Madrid, Castell\u00f3n or Donostia.<\/p>\n
It should be remembered that the NitBus network is made up of four lines that provide service every Friday, Saturday and the eve of public holidays between 11:30 p.m. and 6:30 a.m.:<\/p>\n
The N1, which links Porta del Camp with the Paseo Mar\u00edtimo.<\/p>\n
The N2, which runs from Can Blau to Can Valero and passes through neighborhoods such as Soledad, Nou Llevant, S’Escorxador or Camp Red\u00f3, the neighborhoods of the Manacor road, December 31 and the Valldemossa road.<\/p>\n
The N3, which joins the area of \u200b\u200bthe Hermanos Escalas Sports Center with the Indioteria. Go through the Rafal, Son Gotleu, Pere Garau, Plaza de Toros or Son Castell\u00f3. This line runs through the streets of Indalecio Prieto, Archbishop Aspareo, Francisco Manuel de los Herreros and Eusebi Estada.<\/p>\n
The N4, which leaves Son Bonet and runs along Calle de Arag\u00f3 passing through the neighborhoods of Virgen de Lluc, Son Rutlan, Son Canals and Els Hostalets, until reaching Santa Catalina and Plaza del Progr\u00e9s.<\/p>\n
