The president of the Government, Francina Armengol, presented the Balearic tourism model at the International Tourism Fair (FITUR) and asked the parliamentary groups to have a “state vision” to approve tourism legislation.<\/p>\n
Armengol took stock of last season and recalled that, despite the health situation, “we managed to extend the season and recover 90% of national tourism in 2019, also achieving an increase in spending” and indicated that “the Balearic Islands they have recovered 55% of all tourism and that the 2022 season looks much better.\u201d<\/p>\n
“In the Balearic Islands we have done things well because we have worked from dialogue and jointly between the public and private sectors,” she assured Armengol, adding that this will continue to be the strategy to “shape the tourism of the future that we want.”<\/p>\n
In this sense, she has defended that the new tourist law traces the path to “continue being leaders”. “We want to be valued to be the first to adopt courageous initiatives of commitment to quality and occupational health.”<\/p>\n
In addition, he stated that the Balearic Islands are on the way to becoming the first circular tourist destination in the world: “promoting circularity plans for all companies, which make us be much more efficient in energy expenditure and in the consumption of a scarce resource how is the water All this, said the president, has to help us become “a socially, economically and environmentally sustainable destination”.<\/p>\n
Minister Iago Negueruela, for his part, stressed that all the transformations that this new model for the future seeks have to be carried out with a triple understanding of sustainability: social, economic and environmental, because “tourism has to integrate everyone and not only to tourists. For this reason, the Minister has announced that all these measures that will be promoted with the new tourism regulations and that will affect the entire tourism sector will be accompanied by European funds to facilitate the transition to the sector.<\/p>\n
