The EMT Palma network allows access for all pets. The regulations stipulate that large dogs must be on a leash and muzzle and pay 0.30 cents. In the case of puppies, cats, hamsters, rabbits and other pets, they can travel on the authorized lines for free inside the basket. This was announced by the Deputy Mayor for Sustainable Mobility, Francesc Dalmau, and the Deputy Mayor for Environment and Animal Welfare, Ram\u00f3n Perpiny\u00e0.<\/p>\n
Peripiny\u00e0 has highlighted that this is one more action \u201cin our objective of working for the welfare of animals in Palma. The fact that they can travel on the EMT Palma buses facilitates travel for leisure, veterinary care or any other reason and, at the same time, also facilitates the use of public transport for all those people who want to travel with animals\u201d, has said Perpignan.<\/p>\n
Dalmau has highlighted, for his part, that in “100% of the lines pets will be able to travel” and has recalled that the initiative is possible thanks to the pilot test that began last legislature. “The civility of the whole world that accompanies animals has shown that the use of public transport is compatible with the accompaniment of animals,” he said. “We are the eighth EMT in Spain to take this measure on all lines and we are very happy to announce it,” he added.<\/p>\n
In this way, the plenary agreement of November 2019 is fulfilled, which approved that in the first quarter of 2022 all the lines of the municipal transport network would allow the travel of pets. During the last year, a total of 3,317 pets traveled by bus, in 2020, 1,438 did and in 2019, a total of 2,830 pets.<\/p>\n
