Inflation is gradually becoming more and more noticeable in Spain and these festive dates are no exception. The Consumers and Users Organization (OCU) has registered a 10% increase in a basket of 15 products compared to last Christmas.<\/p>\n
OCU focused on fresh products: suckling lamb to roast in quarters, round veal, poularde, turkey, cut-fed Iberian ham (50%), red cabbage, pineapple, sea bream, farmed sea bass, cut hake, elvers, prawns non-frozen cooked (size 40\/60), Galician barnacles, slimy clams and oysters (dozen).<\/p>\n
The highest increases detected were: barnacles (77%), hake (58%), clams (19%), sea bream (14%) and pineapple (9%). The round of veal (5%), Iberian ham (4%), red cabbage (3%) and sea bass (2%) also rose. The foods with significant losses were: poularde (-10%), elvers (-6%) and turkey (-3%).<\/p>\n
According to the OCU survey on the forecasts of expenses and celebrations, in Christmas 2021 the average expense per person is 641 euros. Gifts, meals, and celebrations take most of that expense.<\/p>\n
At the same time, skyrocketing energy and fuel prices are setting up an inflationary environment, with an undeniable rise in the price of basic products, such as some meats, eggs and dairy products.<\/p>\n
The first sample was taken at the beginning of November in supermarkets, hypermarkets and municipal warehouses in 8 cities: Albacete, Barcelona, \u200b\u200bBilbao, Madrid, Seville, Valencia, Valladolid and Zaragoza. Then another was held in the first days of December and the third show was held ten days before Christmas Eve. The accumulated increase in prices since 2015 for these dates rounds 41.3%.<\/p>\n
