The president of the Government, Francina Armengol, has vindicated on Constitution Day the values \u200b\u200bthat underpin the Magna Carta, “a text of solidarity and progress that underpins our democracy.”<\/p>\n
During his speech at the ceremony held at the Almudaina Palace, Armengol stated that the defense of the fundamental rights of citizenship included in the articles of the Constitution as well as the dialogue between the different political parties of the moment to draft and approve it have the same spirit as the road map followed by the Government when it comes to facing the pandemic: social dialogue to reach consensus and the social shield to protect not only the health and lives of people, but also their vital projects.<\/p>\n
“Most of the parties have known how to put differences aside and get to work for the citizenry, almost all showing the same high-mindedness of the great statesmen who strung our Constitution”, stated Armengol, who also recalled that ” the great agreement of 78 requires us public managers to protect health, employment, education, social welfare “, and that” all this has been done, putting at the service of the common good up to the last euro contributed by the effort of citizens \u201d.<\/p>\n
In this sense, the president has highlighted the work of UGT, CCOO, CAEB and PIME as “key agents” to advance the exit from the pandemic and economic recovery, and has enforced the Reactivation Pact, which includes, in addition to the parties that make up the Government, El Pi and Ciutadans, because it represents the values \u200b\u200b”of this ethical society that knows how to cope together with any threat, putting aside differences and reacting with the unmatched strength provided by the pacts.”<\/p>\n
Within this pact and this consensus “we all fit”, Armengol has affirmed: “in this Constitution there is no excess and it is the most effective vaccine to protect us from those who are outside of it, from those who want to attack democracy and coexistence from the beginning. hatred, racism, LGTBI-phobia or machismo \u201d.<\/p>\n
Armengol has also made mention of the historical demands that the Balearic Islands have made to reform the Constitution in order to promote the decentralization of the State, to obtain a better deployment of rights such as housing or quality occupation and to recognize new freedoms.<\/p>\n
During the event, members of the “Obertament Balears” program, of 3 Salut Mental, have read articles of the Constitution and, in addition to the president, the delegate of the Government, Aina Calvo, has also addressed the attendees.<\/p>\n
The act in commemoration of the 43rd anniversary of the Constitution was attended by, on the part of the Government, the vice president and minister of Energy Transition, Productive Sectors and Democratic Memory, Juan Pedro Yllanes; the Minister of the Presidency, Public Function and Equality, Mercedes Garrido; the Minister of Finance and Foreign Relations, Rosario S\u00e1nchez; the Minister of Health and Consumption, Patricia G\u00f3mez, and the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Mae de Concha, as well as representatives of political parties, authorities of other institutions and mayors of various municipalities.<\/p>\n
