<\/p>\nInvolved in a season that began plagued by uncertainties but which has generally evolved positively, Mallorca is now focusing on the objective of extending the tourist season. The Consell already works in this line, that is why Mallorca is shown in the tourist markets as a quality, sustainable and safe destination. A criterion endorsed by having achieved that 70% of the Balearic population already carry the complete vaccination schedule.<\/p>\n
The Minister of Tourism and Esports, Andreu Serra, values the current tourist season as “satisfactory, taking into account the irregularity caused by the pandemic”. Mallorca has 88.83% of the hotel plant open in August. Serra remarks that “the objective now is to extend the season until November”. In this sense, the Consell collaborates with the Balearic Government, municipalities and the private sector to seek alternatives to the sun and beach product, focused on the summer months.<\/p>\n

“We hope that the season will be extended”, said the president of the Balearic Association of Agrotourism and Interior Hotels, Miguel Artigues. “Bookings throughout the season have been last minute, with few long-term bookings. If this trend continues, we are hopeful it will last until the first weeks of November”, he explains. To do this, “promotions are being made and work is being done on positioning. The evolution indicates that it is possible, but they are only hope. So far the occupation has been acceptable and we trust that September will follow the same trend”, he points out.<\/p>\n
Minister Serra speaks of “creating incentives so that tourist spaces, including accommodation establishments, restaurants and complementary offerings, remain open”. For example, the Fundaci\u00f3 Mallorca Turisme is already working to launch the fourth call for Gaudeix the island, which will be aimed at the senior population and will combine tourist stays with active tourism activities.<\/p>\n
“If the business sector maintains its active offer, tourists will find themselves a tourist destination to be able to enjoy also in autumn, hiking, boat trips, water activities, etc.”, concludes the minister. Also noteworthy is the fact that Imserso trips will be reactivated in October this year.<\/p>\n
The Confederaci\u00f3 de la Petita i Mitjana Empresa de Balears (PIMEB), for its part, is moderately optimistic towards the end of the tourist season. Its president, Jordi Mora, highlights that “despite the high rate of infections, restrictions are not being applied as was done months ago”, which helps the development of the season. In addition, Mora expresses opposition to the COVID passport due to the difficulty involved in applying it, in addition to the legal problems that it can cause.<\/p>\n
The president of PIMEM also recalled the report presented by his federation in May, where it was already noted that the season would go from less to more. Mora says that “it is being a good month of August and a good September is expected”.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
