Mallorca begins its particular and contained de-escalation the same weekend that celebrates the local bank holiday. The President of the Government, Francina Armengol, has announced the modification of the current measures to contain the expansion of COVID-19, which will be applied for at least the next two weeks. She did so just after meeting with the social agents in the framework of the Social Dialogue Table to address this new de-escalation.<\/p>\n

The two most important measures in this slow de-escalation process are the opening of the terraces under restoration until 5:00 p.m. and that social gatherings are no longer limited to just one nucleus of coexistence. Hospitality reactions<\/h2>\n

The president of PIMEB<\/strong>, Jordi Mora, has supported the Government’s measures, although he has specified that he preferred a faster de-escalation for bars and restaurants and a weekly rather than fortnightly review. “We make a call to maintain the utmost prudence. We have to avoid risky behavior because if there is an increase in infections, the de-escalation will automatically stop and we will close everything again,” adds Mora. At the moment, “the feeling is positive because we are beginning the de-escalation, even if it is slow. We are starting to open, which is the good news. Although in Mallorca, the restaurant sector is not satisfied because it also asked to open the interior of the premises. We hope that in 15 days this will be possible. ” Mora recalls that “we have to take into account that the tourist season is close and we have to maintain a seven-day infection rate always close to 50 or below. This is what we have to worry about.”<\/p>\n

For its part, CAEB<\/strong> restauration has announced that the objective of the sector is “that there is not a fourth wave that could harm the economic and tourist recovery of this season”. For this reason, they will be “very aware of the evolution of the health figures in the coming weeks.” The employer gives “a warning to the authorities to intensify the controls of bottles and meetings in houses, which are the places of greatest proven focus of contagion. ” CAEB Restauraci\u00f3n urges the authorities “to establish opening rules that already include the whole of the sector in schedules and interiors once April 4 has passed, so that the economic sustainability of companies and their start-up is real.”<\/p>\n
