That is Mercadona\u2019s premise to continue taking\u00a0care of the planet. Its commitment\u00a0to the environment has led the supermarket company to promote sustainable logistics, energy efficiency,\u00a0responsible waste management, sustainable production and reduction of\u00a0plastics. For this reason, they have designed Strategy 6.25,\u00a0with which they intend to carry out six\u00a0actions: to eliminate single-use plastic\u00a0bags in the sections, to eliminate disposable single-use plastic bags, to reduce\u00a0the plastic in their containers, favor that\u00a0these are recyclable or compostable, to\u00a0recycle all the plastic waste generated\u00a0and to train and inform how to separate\u00a0at home.<\/p>\n<p>The first two actions will be implemented throughout the chain by the\u00a0end of 2020 and the company is already working on the others to progressively achieve its objectives within the\u00a0time horizon that has been set.<\/p>\n<p>In the Balearic Islands, the Palmanova supermarket has been a 6.25 Store\u00a0since October. Here and in other 72\u00a0Mercadona stores distributed between\u00a0Spain and Portugal, you can already see\u00a0the progress of the strategy in order to\u00a0listen to the opinion of the \u201cbosses\u201d\u00a0(this is how they call customers internally) and workers.<\/p>\n<p>Before creating this strategy, for\u00a0which 90,000 employees will be trained, Mercadona was already practicing\u00a0the circular economy. In addition,\u00a0they have continued to collaborate\u00a0with the Es Refugi dining rooms and\u00a0the Estrellas y Duendes Foundation.\u00a0They have also delivered two tons of\u00a0personal hygiene and home cleaning products to C\u00e1ritas Diocesana de\u00a0Mallorca in April.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; Doing more with less.
