Last year there was in this space a critical article about the objective of the Nit de l\u2019Art in Palma. The debate was not innocuous as the professionals questioned its suitability, the model and its function. A year later, with almost no need for changes, the Nit de l\u2019Art 2020 changed the appearance of the event and postponed the debate, without the debate being necessary. The pandemic of the cursed virus forced, by medical and government prescription, to disperse visitors, opening new dates and forcing a reduction in the number of attendees in all galleries, museums and art centers.<\/p>\n

The gallery managers showed their resilience to this viral invasion and showed their willingness to keep their spaces open with new artistic proposals. The popular result was uneven, the interested public continued to attend the call, the voyeur remained at home. Despite the dystopian situation created by the pandemic, art won the battle by showing how creativity was not swept away by the disastrous human effect of the pandemic. In these times of crisis the spirit matters and it remains unchanged.<\/p>\n

We do not know what tomorrow will be like, nor how we will react to the future that is presented to us. These evil pests will be left behind, then it will be good to discuss how to improve as a species. Without a doubt, art and culture will continue to be essential to understand the meaning of life.<\/p>\n

Galer\u00eda Pelaires<\/h2>\n

Under the title \u201cCadmio Lim\u00f3n\u201d, the curator Cristina Anglada proposes an exhibition made up of ten artists of different nationalities without attending to any generational link. The title refers to the pigment of that color widely used in the first avant-gardes of the 20th century. The solo exhibition of Prudencio Irazabal opens immediately. Until March 12, 2021.<\/p>\n

Es Baluard<\/h2>\n

Es Baluard, a leading Contemporary Art museum on the island, proposes a well-deserved tribute to Tur Costa along with three exhibitions by artists as diverse as Miguel Angel Campano, Teresa Margolles and Nuria Marqu\u00e9s. Three artists with different plastic languages but very involved in their contemporary arguments. Until February 28, 2021.<\/p>\n

CaixaForum<\/h2>\n

Anglada Camarasa\u2019s and Joaquim Mir\u2019s paintings show the dazzling image of the Mallorcan landscape seen by these two painters from the first half of the 20th century. On the other hand, \u201cCamera and City\u201d is an exhibition that reviews the work of modern and contemporary photographers and filmmakers who pose different scenarios of urban life. Until the end of March 2021.<\/p>\n

\u201cGirbent Zone\u201d is a proposal presen\u00adted as a representation of the artist\u2019s workshop. The idea that inspires the genesis of this installation is none other than opening the doors of the private studio to the public to offer them the possibility of an immersive experience in a parallel world: the baroque and complex artistic world of Girbent. Pep Llabr\u00e9s Art Contemporani<\/h2>\n

\u201dThread conductor\u201d is the proposal that the gallery owner Pep Llabr\u00e9s brings together in which he shows the work of four artists who have made geometry their plastic dis\u00adcourse. Robert Ferrer Martorell, Albo Puigserver, Dos monos and Emilio Ga\u00f1\u00e1n base their work on the game between the line and the space that generates images in which light plays a leading role. The annual appointment with the Premis Ciutat de Palma, brings together an extensive selection of contemporary artists in the Plastic Arts section. Eclectic and disruptive, it generates controversy and enthu\u00adsiasm for its disparity and indepen\u00addence. Meanwhile, the interventions of Tom\u00e1s Piz\u00e1 (Box 27) and Gabriel Peric\u00e1s (Espai Dip\u00f2sit) remain. Until March 31, 2021.<\/p>\n

Fundaci\u00f3 Pilar i Joan Mir\u00f3<\/h2>\n

\u201cLa llum al taller de l\u2019artista\u201d is an exhibition proposal by the Funda\u00adci\u00f3 Pilar i Joan Mir\u00f3 that seeks to experiment, explain and transmit the importance of light in Mir\u00f3\u2019s works\u00adhop in Mallorca. The project is based on the photographs that Joaquim Gomis made in 1961 of the works\u00adhop designed by J.L. Sert. The artists Bea Sarrias and Morrosko Vila-San Juan carry out a review-homage with drawings, paintings and audiovisuals that, for now, can be seen virtually on the Fundaci\u00f3\u2019s website.<\/p>\n
