The AEMET has downgraded its heavy rain warning for Mallorca from red to orange<\/strong> in the early hours of Monday 19 October<\/strong>, after the heaviest rainfall forecast failed to hit the island with the expected intensity. The orange warning remains in place throughout the morning, with possible rainfall of up to 50 litres per square metre in one hour<\/strong>, before an expected downgrade to yellow from midday.<\/p>\n

Despite this improvement, the Govern de les Illes Balears is maintaining its red Civil Protection alert<\/strong> in Mallorca and the Pityusic Islands due to the risk of heavy rain and flooding. The director of the 112 Emergency Coordination Centre, Eduardo Parga, has warned that conditions remain highly changeable and urged the public not to let their guard down.<\/p>\n

The storm developed more favourably than expected overnight. According to information provided by Emergencies, between 22:00 on Sunday and 6:30 on Monday, two fallen trees and one preventive intervention due to the risk of a building collapsing were reported in Mallorca.<\/p>\n

What rainfall is expected in Mallorca on Monday?<\/h2>\n

AEMET had issued a red warning for the early hours, between 00:00 and 6:00, due to the possibility of exceptionally heavy rainfall. However, at around 4:00, the agency announced that the warning had been downgraded to orange.<\/p>\n

The latest forecast indicates:<\/p>\n
