The fire started at around <strong>13:00<\/strong> and was extinguished approximately an hour later.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_158860\" style=\"width: 1010px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-158860\" class=\"size-full wp-image-158860\" src=\"https:\/\/mallorcaglobalmag.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/Incendio-Son-Hugo.webp\" alt=\"Son Hugo fire\" width=\"1000\" height=\"666\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-158860\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Palma firefighters tackling the blaze. Photo: Palma City Council.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Following the incident, <strong>Palma City Council<\/strong> informed the occupants of all vehicles parked at the site that they must <strong>immediately remove butane gas cylinders and any other flammable materials from outside their caravans<\/strong>. They were also given <strong>48 hours<\/strong> to remove any other objects and belongings stored outside the vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>Municipal social services assisted everyone affected and offered them the available support services. <strong>Four people requested accommodation<\/strong> following the fire.<\/p>\n<h2>Fire in Palma: cleaning of the Son Hugo car park<\/h2>\n<p>Following the fire in Palma, <strong>EMAYA<\/strong> will clean the site over the coming days, according to the City Council.<\/p>\n<p>Also attending the scene were First Deputy Mayor <strong>Javier Bonet<\/strong>; Councillor for Seguretat Ciutadana i Civisme (Public Safety and Civic Affairs), <strong>Lloren\u00e7 Bauz\u00e1<\/strong>; head of Palma Fire Service, <strong>Eder Garc\u00eda<\/strong>; and General Coordinator of Serveis Socials (Social Services), <strong>Patricia Piz\u00e1<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2>Monitoring encampments and homelessness in Palma<\/h2>\n<p>Palma City Council continues to monitor people experiencing homelessness and encampments across the city through a <strong>municipal committee that meets weekly<\/strong> to coordinate action between different departments.<\/p>\n<p>The committee includes representatives from Legal Services, Urbanisme (Urban Planning), Serveis Socials, the Local Police, the Fire Service and the Mayor&#8217;s Office Coordination Department.<\/p>\n<p>According to the City Council, the same coordination system was used during the <strong>eviction process at Palma&#8217;s former prison<\/strong>, which involved several municipal departments.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A fire that broke out on Wednesday 14 October in <a href=\"https:\/\/mallorcaglobalmag.es\/en\/incendio-son-hugo-caravanas-palma\/\"> [&#8230;]<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":24,"featured_media":158861,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[1528],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-158867","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-events-courts"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v25.2 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/wordpress\/plugins\/seo\/ -->\n<title>Fire at Son Hugo: three caravans affected in Palma - Mallorca Global Mag<\/title>\n<meta name=\"description\" content=\"Palma City Council orders the removal of butane gas cylinders and flammable materials from the car park.
