The sa Milana helicopter operated by the Bombers de Mallorca<\/strong> has reached 200 rescues<\/strong> as it approaches one year<\/strong> since the start of its operations. Its 200th operation involved rescuing two injured hikers near sa Torreta, in C\u00faber<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The aerial resource was launched to reduce response and evacuation times in hard-to-reach areas<\/strong> of Mallorca, particularly in the Serra de Tramuntana<\/strong>. Rescues involve a multidisciplinary team<\/strong> comprising firefighters from the Grup de Rescat de Muntanya (Mountain Rescue Group), winch operators and pilots<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

How the Bombers de Mallorca rescue helicopter works<\/h2>\n

Sa Milana’s operations are carried out in coordination with SAMU 061<\/strong> emergency medical services, allowing advanced medical care to be provided before and during the patient’s transfer<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The helicopter provides access to places that would take ground crews longer to reach and subsequently speeds up the evacuation of injured people.<\/p>\n

According to the Consell de Mallorca<\/strong>, the introduction of this service has drastically reduced medical evacuation times<\/strong> thanks to coordination between ground bases and the flight unit.<\/p>\n

Sa Milana’s 200th rescue in C\u00faber<\/h2>\n

The operation that brought the total to 200 took place near sa Torreta, in C\u00faber<\/strong>, where emergency teams rescued two injured hikers.<\/p>\n

The island’s director of Emergencies, Joan Forn\u00e0s<\/strong>, said: “Reaching 200 rescues demonstrates just how vital the Bombers de Mallorca helicopter has been. Behind every one of these flights are people who have been taken to safety and an extraordinary team. I can only thank our firefighters for their professionalism and for always being there when people need them most”.<\/p>\n
