The Balearic Islands<\/strong> were the Spanish autonomous community to receive the highest number of passengers arriving from international airports<\/strong> in July<\/strong>. The islands recorded 2,663,239 arrivals<\/strong>, ahead of Catalonia<\/strong>, with 2,524,027, and the Community of Madrid<\/strong>, with 2,375,407. The figures come from Turespa\u00f1a statistics based on Aena data.<\/p>\n

The archipelago therefore accounted for 21.5% of all international arrivals<\/strong> recorded in Spain during the month. Catalonia accounted for 20.4% and Madrid for 19.2%. Overall, Spain received 12.38 million passengers from foreign airports in July.<\/p>\n

Arrivals in the Balearic Islands also increased by 2.1% compared with July 2025<\/strong>. Growth was lower than in Catalonia (+7%) and Madrid (+4.6%), but the figures kept the islands in first place during one of the busiest months of the tourist season.<\/p>\n

These figures count passengers on international flights and do not refer exclusively to foreign tourists<\/strong>. Turespa\u00f1a includes both Spanish residents and non-residents arriving from international airports.<\/p>\n

Balearic Islands are the leading destination for passengers from the UK and Germany<\/h2>\n

The Balearic Islands are particularly important for two of Spain’s main international markets. Of the nearly 2.9 million passengers arriving in Spain from the UK<\/strong> in July, 26% travelled to the islands. The Balearic Islands received the largest share of passengers from this market.<\/p>\n

The concentration was even greater among passengers arriving from Germany. Of the 1.57 million German passengers<\/strong> who travelled to Spain, 46.3% headed to the Balearic Islands. Arrivals from this market to the islands fell slightly, by 0.2% year on year.<\/p>\n

The Balearic Islands were also the leading destination for passengers arriving from France, with a 24.4% share<\/strong>. In this case, arrivals in the archipelago increased year on year.<\/p>\n

Palma receives nearly two million international passengers<\/h2>\n

Palma Airport received 1,935,784 passengers on international flights in July<\/strong>, 2% more than in the same month last year. This figure represented 15.6% of all international arrivals recorded in Spain.<\/p>\n

Palma ranked as the third busiest airport in Spain<\/strong> by this measure. Only Adolfo Su\u00e1rez Madrid-Barajas, with 2,375,397 passengers, and Barcelona, with 2,241,024, recorded higher figures. They were followed by M\u00e1laga, with 1,311,199, and Alicante, with 1,067,784.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Eivissa Airport received 501,504 international passengers<\/strong>, 1.7% more than in July 2025. The airport accounted for 4% of the national total and ranked sixth among the airports included in the statistics.<\/p>\n

Balearic Islands also lead low-cost airline arrivals<\/h2>\n

The archipelago also recorded the highest number of international arrivals on low-cost airlines<\/strong>. The Balearic Islands received 1,813,649 passengers on these airlines, 4.1% more than a year earlier. The figure represents 24% of the national total and is slightly higher than Catalonia’s 1,785,338 passengers.<\/p>\n

In Palma, low-cost airlines carried 1,275,988 international passengers<\/strong>, up 4.2%. Eivissa recorded 367,954, an increase of 3%.<\/p>\n

Between January and July, the Balearic Islands received a total of 9,526,104 passengers from international airports<\/strong>, 2.8% more than in the same period of 2025. Over this period, Madrid and Catalonia remain ahead of the islands.<\/code><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
