31.6% of the Balearic Islands<\/strong> is now under a drought alert<\/strong> following the decline in water reserves recorded during July. Es Pla, Manacor-Felanitx and Migjorn are now under alert, while reserves across the archipelago have fallen from 45% to 39% in just one month<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The situation worsened during July across all the islands’ demand units. The largest declines were recorded in Manacor-Felanitx and Eivissa<\/strong>. Manacor-Felanitx and Migjorn also moved into alert status this month.<\/p>\n

Across the islands, most of the Balearic territory remains under pre-alert. This status affects 58.9% of the territory<\/strong> and includes the demand units of Menorca, Art\u00e0, Palma-Alc\u00fadia, Tramuntana Nord and Eivissa.<\/p>\n

Only 9.5%<\/strong> remains at normal status, corresponding to the Formentera and Tramuntana Sud demand units.<\/p>\n

Balearic water reserves fall six points in July<\/h2>\n

Water reserve levels also reflect the decline typical of the summer months. Across the Balearic Islands, reserves fell from 45% in June to 39% in July<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In Mallorca, the decline was even greater. Reserves fell seven points in one month, from 46% to 39%<\/strong>. Eivissa dropped from 47% to 42%<\/strong>, while Menorca remained at 34%<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Despite the decline in reserves, the overall index for the Balearic Islands River Basin District stands at 0.386<\/strong>. This is higher than the figure recorded in July 2025, when it stood at 0.366, and in 2024, when it reached 0.365.<\/p>\n

Drought alert in the Balearic Islands could spread<\/h2>\n

The expected evolution of water reserves over the coming weeks points to further declines. The outlook for August maintains a downward trend<\/strong>, typical of the summer period and the current state of water resources.<\/p>\n

Changes in the different demand units will determine whether the area affected by the alert increases. For now, almost nine out of every ten hectares in the Balearic Islands are under either pre-alert or alert status<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
