Palma de Mallorca Airport opens the new access to its inter-island module this Friday, 14th August. The new facility maintains the dedicated security checkpoint for these flights, preserves the direct exit for arriving passengers without checked baggage and provides a shorter route for those who need to collect their luggage.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Palma de Mallorca Airport opens its new access to the inter-island module this Friday<\/strong>, located next to the existing entrance. The measure is designed to maintain a differentiated service for passengers who regularly travel between Mallorca, Menorca, Eivissa and Formentera.<\/p>\n

Inter-island traffic has had its own dedicated facilities and procedures at Son Sant Joan since the module opened in 2003, with the aim of reducing walking distances inside the terminal and making passenger journeys quicker and easier.<\/p>\n

What changes for inter-island flights at Palma Airport?<\/h2>\n

The opening of the new access does not mean the loss of the main advantages already available to passengers travelling on inter-island flights.<\/p>\n

Passengers departing from Palma will continue to have a dedicated security checkpoint<\/strong> located next to the entrance to the module.<\/p>\n

Passengers arriving in Mallorca without checked baggage will also continue to have a direct exit to the check-in floor<\/strong>, located opposite the new access.<\/p>\n

The main change for passengers travelling with checked baggage will be a more direct route to the baggage reclaim hall<\/strong>, reducing the distance they currently have to cover.<\/p>\n

A dedicated service for passengers travelling between the islands<\/h2>\n

Aena is therefore maintaining a differentiated model for inter-island flights, which are widely used in the Balearic Islands for work, administrative, healthcare and personal journeys.<\/p>\n

The specific configuration of entrances, security checkpoints and passenger routes is designed to provide a quicker journey through one of Spain’s busiest airports.<\/p>\n

The inter-island module has been operating since 2003 and is used by hundreds of thousands of passengers every year.<\/p>\n

Part of the airport’s \u20ac559 million redevelopment<\/h2>\n

The new access forms part of the major redevelopment of Palma de Mallorca Airport<\/strong>, which represents a total investment of \u20ac559 million<\/strong> and enters its final phase of construction in 2026.<\/p>\n

Major milestones already completed include the new security checkpoint, the renovation of the commercial area and access to modules A, C and D, as well as the new passport control facilities.<\/p>\n

The outdoor arrivals area has also been transformed, including a new pedestrian walkway directly connecting the terminal with the first floor of the car park.<\/p>\n

The opening of the new inter-island access now joins these improvements, while preserving the specific advantages of flights between the Balearic Islands within the airport’s new configuration.<\/p>\n
