The work covered <strong>seven sections<\/strong> in the municipalities of <strong>Consell, Pollen\u00e7a, Montu\u00efri, Santany\u00ed and Campos<\/strong>, with the aim of <strong>improving drainage<\/strong> and reducing the <strong>risk of incidents<\/strong> during periods of heavy rainfall.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_156891\" style=\"width: 790px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-156891\" class=\"size-full wp-image-156891\" src=\"https:\/\/mallorcaglobalmag.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/Torrent-de-Son-Xorc-2026.webp\" alt=\"watercourses in Mallorca\" width=\"780\" height=\"446\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-156891\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Son Xorc watercourse following the clearance work carried out by the Balearic Government. Photo: CAIB.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The work, carried out by the <strong>Regional Ministry for the Sea and the Water Cycle<\/strong>, included <strong>manual and mechanical vegetation clearance<\/strong>, the removal of <strong>reeds, brambles and accumulated vegetation<\/strong>, <strong>cleaning of the watercourses<\/strong> and the <strong>removal of trees<\/strong> obstructing the flow of water.<\/p>\n<h2>Watercourses in Mallorca receiving the most extensive work<\/h2>\n<p>The largest intervention took place along the <strong>Solleric watercourse<\/strong> in Consell, where <strong>1,860 metres<\/strong> were cleared and maintained. This was followed by the <strong>Can Roig watercourse<\/strong> in Pollen\u00e7a, where work covered <strong>1,050 metres<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Work was also carried out on two drainage channels in Montu\u00efri. At <strong>Ca&#8217;n Pelut<\/strong>, <strong>1,215 metres<\/strong> were cleared and cleaned, while vegetation was removed from a <strong>140-metre<\/strong> section at <strong>s&#8217;Alcoraia<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2>Work in Santany\u00ed and Campos<\/h2>\n<p>In southern Mallorca, the work focused on the <strong>en Barres<\/strong> and <strong>en Vica<\/strong> watercourses, both in Santany\u00ed.
