The The Serra de Tramuntana, Before and After<\/em> (La Serra de Tramuntana, antes y despu\u00e9s<\/em>) exhibition<\/strong> can now be visited at the Centre Cultural La Miseric\u00f2rdia in Palma<\/strong>. The exhibition will remain open until 12 July<\/strong> and brings together nine rephotographs<\/strong> of some of its most representative<\/strong> locations. It will then begin an itinerant tour<\/strong> of several municipalities in the Serra.<\/p>\n

Promoted by the Consell de Mallorca<\/strong>, the exhibition forms part of the events marking the 15th anniversary of the Serra de Tramuntana\u2019s declaration as a UNESCO World Heritage Site<\/strong>. It also brings the outreach project The Balearic Islands, Before and After<\/em><\/strong>, which until now could only be viewed digitally, into a physical exhibition format for the first time.<\/p>\n

Nine rephotographs to discover the evolution of the landscape<\/h2>\n

The exhibition presents nine rephotographs of some of the Serra\u2019s most emblematic locations. These include Alar\u00f3 Castle, Coma-sema, Cape Formentor, the Charterhouse of Valldemossa, the Son Moragues snow house, Torre des Verger, Dei\u00e0, S\u00f3ller and Puig de Son Nasi<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Each image places a 19th-century illustration<\/strong> alongside a current photograph<\/strong> taken from the same viewpoint. In this way, visitors can see how the landscape and heritage have changed over time<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

A project inspired by the work of Archduke Ludwig Salvator<\/h2>\n

The The Serra de Tramuntana, Before and After<\/em> exhibition<\/strong> is the result of a collaboration between the Consell de Mallorca and Lluc Juli\u00e0 F\u00e0bregues, creator of the project The Balearic Islands, Before and After<\/em>. Since 2002, he has worked to locate the places illustrated by Archduke Ludwig Salvator of Austria in order to photograph them from the same viewpoint.<\/p>\n

The project takes as its reference Die Balearen in Wort und Bild Geschildert<\/em> (The Balearic Islands Described in Words and Pictures<\/em>). This nine-volume work documented the landscape, heritage and customs of the Balearic Islands during the 19th century.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
