The world in full colour<\/h3>\n
\u201cEverything depends on the colour of the lens through which it is seen,\u201d wrote Ram\u00f3n de Campoamor. A slight variation in light can alter both the perception and the meaning of a colour. These tones have also acquired different connotations depending on the cultural context, becoming symbols of power, spirituality, life or transformation.<\/p>\n
The exhibition \u201cColours of the World\u201d<\/strong>, which can be visited at CaixaForum Palma<\/strong> until 12 October<\/strong>, brings together a selection of 63 photographs from National Geographic<\/strong><\/em> that capture this rich chromatic diversity of the planet in all its splendour. Through them, the visitor journeys across diverse landscapes, scenes of everyday life and traditions from different parts of the world, from Papua New Guinea to India, via Italy, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Chile and the United States.<\/p>\n Signed by renowned photographers such as Steve McCurry, Joel Sartore, Michael Nichols, Lynn Johnson, Jodi Cobb, Paul Nicklen, Frans Lanting and Lynsey Addario, the images show how colour defines atmospheres and shapes the way we see. From a seal on the ice beneath a twilight sky to a goby on the seabed or an autumn forest in Acadia National Park, Maine, the exhibition reveals a world understood as a vast mosaic of nuances.<\/p>\n The exhibition opens with a spectacular installation by the British artist Luke Jerram, a large globe created from NASA imagery that allows visitors to observe the planet from the outside. From there, the exhibition is organised into seven sections devoted to the fundamental colours \u2014 yellow, orange, red, blue, violet, green and white \u2014 exploring their qualities, symbolism and presence in different contexts over time.<\/p>\n \u201cColours of the World\u201d is complemented by family workshops, screenings and guided tours that enrich the experience and offer new ways of approaching the role of colour in nature, culture and, ultimately, our lives.<\/p>\nA selection of images featured in the exhibition “Colours of the World” at CaixaForum<\/h3>\n\n\t\t
