Photo: Consell de Mallorca.<\/p><\/div>\n<p data-start=\"1849\" data-end=\"2166\">Born in Mallorca in 1981, Macarena de Castro has become one of the <strong>most recognised chefs in Spain<\/strong>. Trained at the <strong>Escola d\u2019Hosteleria de les Illes Balears<\/strong>, she worked alongside leading figures in gastronomy such as <strong><span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Andoni Luis Aduriz<\/span><\/span><\/strong> and gained experience in prestigious kitchens such as <strong>El Celler de Can Roca<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2168\" data-end=\"2388\">She currently runs the restaurant <a href=\"https:\/\/macadecastro.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Maca de Castro<\/strong><\/a>, in <strong>Port d\u2019Alc\u00fadia<\/strong>, which holds <strong>one Michelin star, three Repsol Suns and the Michelin Green Star<\/strong> for its commitment to <strong>sustainability<\/strong> and <strong>local produce<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"2168\" data-end=\"2388\">Sobrassada d\u2019Or 2026 for \u201ccommitment to our land\u201d<\/h2>\n<p>The president of the Consell de Mallorca,<strong> <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Lloren\u00e7 Galm\u00e9s<\/span><\/span><\/strong>, presented the award during an institutional event held at <strong>Can T\u00e0pera<\/strong>, which brought together <strong>institutional representatives, farming organisations, producers and quality brands from the island<\/strong>. The Sobrassada d\u2019Or 2026 presentation was also attended by the councillor for Economic Promotion and Local Development, <strong>Pilar Amate<\/strong>; the president of the IGP Sobrassada de Mallorca, <strong>Andreu Palou<\/strong>; and the island director for Economic Promotion and Product of Mallorca, <strong>\u00c1lvaro Roca<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1199\" data-end=\"1485\">During his speech, Lloren\u00e7 Galm\u00e9s highlighted \u201cthe commitment shown by Macarena de Castro to our land, <strong>masterfully linking haute cuisine with local produce<\/strong>\u201d, and also praised \u201cthe passion and respect for local ingredients\u201d present in her cooking.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1487\" data-end=\"1787\">For her part, Pilar Amate said that the Mallorcan chef represents \u201ca working philosophy that seeks to make known the authenticity of what is ours and support for local produce\u201d. The councillor also described sobrassada de Mallorca as one of the island\u2019s great gastronomic symbols.<\/p>\n<h2 data-section-id=\"1lodep0\" data-start=\"2604\" data-end=\"2652\">An award with values<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"2654\" data-end=\"2824\">The Sobrassada d\u2019Or 2026 recognises people or organisations that represent values such as <strong>roots, quality, tradition and a connection<\/strong> with Mallorca\u2019s typical produce.
