The Fira de la Sardina de Palma<\/strong> (Sardine Fair)<\/strong> will hold its second edition<\/strong> on 14, 15, 16 and 17 May 2026<\/strong> at the Moll de Pescadors<\/strong>. The event, organised by the Confraria de Pescadors Sant Pere de Palma<\/strong> with the support of the Ajuntament de Palma<\/strong>, will once again bring together gastronomy, culture and leisure<\/strong> around one of the most representative products of the Mallorcan coast<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The Fira de la Sardina 2026 will feature two gastronomic areas focused on seafood cuisine<\/strong>, a crafts area<\/strong> and a children\u2019s area<\/strong>. The programme will include workshops, family activities, live music, tardeos and habaneras<\/strong>. The organisers propose an open and free event<\/strong>, aimed at all audiences<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

An event that promotes blue fish and the fishing tradition<\/h2>\n

The Fira de la Sardina was created to promote the Mallorcan sardine and blue fish as a whole<\/strong>, with special attention to their role in the Mediterranean diet<\/strong> and in the island\u2019s fishing tradition. The initiative seeks to boost the consumption of local produce<\/strong> and bring Mallorca\u2019s seafaring culture closer to the public.<\/p>\n

The event combines gastronomy, outreach and entertainment in a single space. Visitors have the opportunity to learn about local produce, how it is caught and its importance in the local economy, while they enjoy a cultural and leisure programme designed for a broad audience.<\/p>\n

Declaration of Municipal Public Interest<\/h2>\n

The Governing Board of the Ajuntament de Palma approved the declaration of Municipal Public Interest<\/strong> for the Fira de la Sardina on 18 March. The City Council values the open and free nature of the event, as well as its contribution to the development of the local economy, job creation and direct support for the fishing sector<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The initiative, promoted by the Confraria de Pescadors Sant Pere de Palma, strengthens the promotion of local produce and consolidates this event as an annual benchmark in the city.<\/p>\n

More than 3,000 kilos of sardines in the first edition<\/h2>\n

The first edition of the fair, held in 2025, closed with results that exceeded initial forecasts<\/strong>. Over the four days of activity, more than 3,000 kilos of Mallorcan sardines<\/strong> were consumed and the Moll de Pescadors recorded a high turnout, with thousands of visitors<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The response forced the organisers to increase supply. Three additional boats went out to fish to guarantee the availability of fresh product until the end of the event. The head of the Confraria de Pescadors de Palma, Domingo Bonn\u00edn, highlighted at the time the public\u2019s response and the potential of local produce.<\/p>\n

The event brought together more than 40 stands dedicated to gastronomy, seafaring culture and family activities. The organisation donated around 90 kilos of unused sardines to the Associaci\u00f3 Tardor, in a social action that extended the impact of the event beyond the gastronomic sphere.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
