The city of Palma<\/span><\/span><\/strong> has incorporated, as of this Thursday, a new cultural landmark into its urban landscape<\/strong>. The mayor, Jaime Mart\u00ednez Llabr\u00e9s<\/span><\/span><\/strong>, presided over the inauguration of the sculpture by French artist Bernar Venet<\/span><\/span><\/strong>, located on the Fa\u00e7ana Mar\u00edtima<\/strong>, just a short distance from the Palau de Congressos de Palma<\/span><\/span><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The piece, entitled 9 Acute Uneven Angles<\/em><\/strong>, is presented as a structure of striking visual power<\/strong>, marked by a constant tension between its elements<\/strong>. With no apparent hierarchy and a balance that seems to defy gravity<\/strong>, the work establishes a direct dialogue with the open surroundings of Palma\u2019s seafront<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

During the event, Mart\u00ednez Llabr\u00e9s said that the city is welcoming \u201can immeasurable work of art<\/strong> that further enriches the image of the Fa\u00e7ana Mar\u00edtima, a gateway and welcome point to Palma<\/strong>\u201d, underlining the symbolic value<\/strong> of this addition to the public space.<\/p>\n

Contemporary art at one of Palma\u2019s finest cultural moments<\/h2>\n

The inauguration has coincided with the opening of the first edition of Art Cologne Mallorca<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/a>, which is running until 12 April<\/strong> and places the city in the international spotlight of contemporary art<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The mayor stressed that Palma is going through \u201cone of the finest moments in its history<\/strong>\u201d in cultural terms, with an unprecedented concentration of internationally significant events and the growing presence of renowned creators who are choosing the city as a platform for their artistic proposals.<\/p>\n

The event was attended by institutional representatives from the Government of the Balearic Islands<\/span><\/span> and the Council of Mallorca<\/span><\/span><\/strong>, as well as figures from the cultural sector and organisations linked to the fair, including the Stiftung f\u00fcr Kunst und Kultur<\/span><\/span>, Koelnmesse<\/span><\/span> and Art Palma Contemporani<\/span><\/span><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Bernar Venet, from concept to urban space<\/h3>\n

Born in France in 1941, Venet is regarded as a key figure in the evolution of conceptual art since the late 20th century<\/strong>. His career began in the 1960s, closely linked to mathematical systems and analytical structures<\/strong> that blurred the boundaries between art and knowledge.<\/p>\n

In the following decade, he transferred this thinking into three-dimensional space<\/strong>, creating sculptures based on essential geometric elements such as lines, arcs and angles. Although his work has often been associated with minimalism, his approach goes beyond that definition by incorporating a conceptual dimension that transforms mathematical logic into spatial experience.<\/p>\n

Throughout his career, he has created numerous monumental works installed in cities across Europe, Asia and the United States<\/strong>, establishing himself as one of the leading figures in the integration of contemporary art into public space<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
