Sales rose by <strong>1.9%<\/strong> \u2014from <strong>40,393 hectolitres<\/strong> to <strong>41,145 hectolitres<\/strong>\u2014 and now account for <strong>82.2% of total sales<\/strong>. By contrast, sales in the <strong>rest of Spain<\/strong> <strong>fell by 49.9%<\/strong>, while <strong>exports to third countries dropped by 19.6%<\/strong>, according to data from the Conselleria de Agricultura, Pesca i Medi Natural.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_152995\" style=\"width: 1010px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-152995\" class=\"wp-image-152995 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/mallorcaglobalmag.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Vino-de-Balears-e1773759062501.webp\" alt=\"Quality wine from the Balearic Islands\" width=\"1000\" height=\"667\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mallorcaglobalmag.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Vino-de-Balears-e1773759062501-768x512.webp 768w, https:\/\/mallorcaglobalmag.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Vino-de-Balears-e1773759062501.webp 1000w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-152995\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: CAIB.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Overall, the marketing of quality wine from the Balearic Islands stood at <strong>50,025 hectolitres<\/strong> in 2025, which represents a <strong>4.6% decrease<\/strong> compared with 2024. This decline is partly explained by the <strong>lower output from the 2024 vintage<\/strong>, which affected product availability. Despite this, the sector maintained a strong sales performance and <strong>marketed nearly 94% of the wine produced<\/strong>, a higher ratio than in previous years.<\/p>\n<p>This volume corresponds to wines protected by the <strong>protected designations of origin Binissalem and Pla i Llevant<\/strong>, as well as <strong>wines with the geographical indication Vi de la Terra Mallorca, Vi de la Terra Illa de Menorca, Vi de la Terra Eivissa, Vi de la Terra Formentera, Vi de la Terra Serra de Tramuntana and Vi de la Terra Illes Balears<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2>Economic value of quality wine from the Balearic Islands<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"2163\" data-end=\"2384\">Despite the reduction in volume marketed, the sector\u2019s <strong>economic value<\/strong> remained virtually<strong> stable<\/strong>. In 2025, it reached <strong data-start=\"2309\" data-end=\"2336\">42.07 million euros<\/strong>, just <strong data-start=\"2348\" data-end=\"2363\">1.4% less<\/strong> than the previous year.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2386\" data-end=\"2581\">This trend is explained by the increase in the <strong data-start=\"2439\" data-end=\"2465\">average price per litre<\/strong>, which rose from <strong data-start=\"2479\" data-end=\"2520\">8.2 euros in 2024 to 8.4 euros in 2025<\/strong>, reflecting a <strong data-start=\"2537\" data-end=\"2580\">gradual increase in the value of Balearic wine<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"2386\" data-end=\"2581\">Types and territorial distribution<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"79\" data-end=\"277\">By type of wine, <strong>red<\/strong> recorded a <strong>decrease of 8.7%<\/strong>, while <strong>white fell by 3.4%<\/strong>. By contrast, <strong>ros\u00e9 rose by<\/strong> <strong>2.4%<\/strong>, confirming its upward trend in recent years.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"279\" data-end=\"596\">As for the territorial distribution, <strong>Mallorca<\/strong> accounts for nearly <strong>90%<\/strong> of total sales, with around 45,000 hectolitres and an<strong> approximate drop of 5%<\/strong>. <strong>Menorca<\/strong>, by contrast, recorded an <strong>increase of 8.7%<\/strong>, to 1,804 hectolitres, thanks to the entry into production of <strong>new vineyards<\/strong> and the <strong>inclusion of varieties recently authorised<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"598\" data-end=\"897\">In the case of <strong>Formentera<\/strong>, sales rose by <strong>80.1%<\/strong>, to 272 hectolitres, due to the release onto the market of <strong>accumulated stock from previous vintages<\/strong>. In <strong>Eivissa<\/strong>, the slight decline in sales \u2014by <strong>12.3%<\/strong>, to 965 hectolitres\u2014 is linked to the lower production of the previous vintage, although<strong> the rise in exports stands out<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2 data-section-id=\"auoke2\" data-start=\"3086\" data-end=\"3130\">Decline in the designations of origin<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"3132\" data-end=\"3290\">As for the quality labels, the designations of origin recorded a sharper fall, of <strong data-start=\"3239\" data-end=\"3249\">11.7%<\/strong>, standing at <strong data-start=\"3265\" data-end=\"3287\">13,516 hectolitres<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"3292\" data-end=\"3374\">\n<li data-section-id=\"kyiu1e\" data-start=\"3292\" data-end=\"3331\">\n<p data-start=\"3294\" data-end=\"3331\"><strong data-start=\"3294\" data-end=\"3311\">DO Binissalem<\/strong>: 5,133 hl (-14%)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"ndmbi1\" data-start=\"3332\" data-end=\"3374\">\n<p data-start=\"3334\" data-end=\"3374\"><strong data-start=\"3334\" data-end=\"3354\">DO Pla i Llevant<\/strong>: 8,383 hl (-10.2%)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"3376\" data-end=\"3514\">For their part, wines with a geographical indication showed greater stability, with <strong data-start=\"3466\" data-end=\"3488\">36,509 hectolitres<\/strong> marketed (-1.7%).<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3516\" data-end=\"3561\">Particularly noteworthy are:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"3562\" data-end=\"3787\">\n<li data-section-id=\"1t2799v\" data-start=\"3562\" data-end=\"3652\">\n<p data-start=\"3564\" data-end=\"3652\"><strong data-start=\"3564\" data-end=\"3594\">Vi de la Terra Mallorca<\/strong>, which accounts for the largest share of sales (30,293 hl)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"1atndw1\" data-start=\"3653\" data-end=\"3714\">\n<p data-start=\"3655\" data-end=\"3714\"><strong data-start=\"3655\" data-end=\"3692\">Vi de la Terra Illa de Menorca<\/strong>, which grew by 8.7%<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"6d8e6y\" data-start=\"3715\" data-end=\"3787\">\n<p data-start=\"3717\" data-end=\"3787\"><strong data-start=\"3717\" data-end=\"3749\">Vi de la Terra Formentera<\/strong>, with the highest increase, 80.1%<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"3789\" data-end=\"3868\">By contrast, <strong data-start=\"3811\" data-end=\"3822\">Eivissa<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"3824\" data-end=\"3841\">Illes Balears<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"3844\" data-end=\"3867\">Serra de Tramuntana<\/strong> all recorded declines.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The domestic market consolidated its position in 2025 as the <a href=\"https:\/\/mallorcaglobalmag.es\/en\/vino-calidad-balears-2025\/\"> [&#8230;]<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":4,"featured_media":152996,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[1515],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-152998","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-economy-and-tourism"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v25.2 -
