The 8M 2026 in Palma<\/strong> will once again fill the city with feminist mobilisations, cultural activities and institutional events<\/strong> to mark International Women\u2019s Day<\/strong>. The centre of the Balearic capital will host the main demonstrations called by feminist organisations<\/strong>, while the Palma City Council<\/strong> and the Government of the Balearic Islands<\/strong> have organised an extensive programme of activities over the coming weeks.<\/p>\n

Conferences, workshops, exhibitions, cultural events and sporting activities<\/strong> are part of an agenda that runs throughout the whole month of March<\/strong> and aims to highlight the role of women in different areas of society.<\/p>\n

8M 2026 demonstrations in Palma<\/h2>\n

The 8M 2026 in Palma<\/strong> will feature two feminist demonstrations organised by different groups within the feminist movement, both taking place in the city centre at different times.<\/p>\n

The Moviment Feminista de Mallorca<\/strong> has called a march at 12:00 from Pla\u00e7a d\u2019Espanya<\/strong>. The demonstration will pass along carrer de Sant Miquel, pla\u00e7a de Cort and carrer Conqueridor<\/strong>, finishing at passeig del Born<\/strong>. The aim of the protest is to defend rights already achieved and call for further progress in equality, social justice and the fight against gender-based violence.<\/p>\n

In the afternoon, the demonstration organised by the Coordinadora Transfeminista de Mallorca<\/strong> will also depart from Pla\u00e7a d\u2019Espanya<\/strong> at 18:00<\/strong> under the slogan \u201cHo tornarem a fer, m\u00e9s feministes que mai\u201d<\/strong>. The route will run along carrer de<\/strong> Sant Miquel, pla\u00e7a Major and carrer Colom<\/strong> until reaching pla\u00e7a de Cort<\/strong>, where the manifesto will be read.<\/p>\n

Activities organised by the Balearic Government for 8M<\/h2>\n

The Government of the Balearic Islands<\/strong>, through IBDONA<\/strong>, has organised several initiatives for the 8M 2026 in Palma<\/strong> aimed at highlighting the role of women in the field of physical activity and sport<\/strong>. Among the main activities is the professional conference \u201cWomen, physical activity and sport\u201d<\/strong>, which will take place on 6 March<\/strong>, as well as the presentation of the book La nadadora<\/em>, inspired by the career of Balearic athlete Tita Llorens<\/strong>, at Can Sales Library.<\/p>\n

The programme also includes a round table entitled \u201cWomen in male-dominated sports\u201d<\/strong>, the photography competition \u201cWoman and Sport\u201d<\/strong>, the screening of the documentary \u201cTraining in Equality\u201d<\/strong> and several symbolic actions such as the purple illumination of sports facilities<\/strong>, including the Son Moix Stadium<\/strong>. The Government\u2019s institutional campaign this year is presented under the slogan \u201cEquality is the key match. We continue opening the way\u201d<\/strong>, featuring Balearic athletes Cata Coll<\/strong> and Alba Torrens<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Activities organised by Palma City Council for 8M<\/h2>\n

The Palma City Council<\/strong>, through the Equality Department, has organised 17 activities<\/strong> throughout March for the 8M 2026 in Palma<\/strong>, under the slogan \u201cVisible at every age\u201d<\/strong>. The programme focuses on combating ageism and highlighting women\u2019s contribution at every stage of life.<\/p>\n

The programme includes storytelling sessions, exhibitions, workshops, community activities and cultural events<\/strong> taking place in municipal libraries, neighbourhood centres, youth spaces and cultural venues across the city. One of the highlights is the Palmadona race<\/strong><\/a>, which will take place on 8 March at Parc de Sa Riera<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
