Photo: Consell de Mallorca.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>GR 226 links the municipalities of <strong>Art\u00e0, Capdepera, Manacor, Sant Lloren\u00e7 des Cardassar and Son Servera<\/strong>. The route passes through <strong>coves, coastal stretches, rural tracks and areas of high landscape value<\/strong>. It offers an attractive alternative for both residents and visitors who seek nature-based experiences.<\/p>\n<h2>A route accessible to everyone<\/h2>\n<p>The East Mallorca Route GR 226 has a <strong>low difficulty level<\/strong>. This feature makes it <strong>accessible to hikers of different abilities<\/strong>. The main itinerary is divided into four stages, totalling <strong>89.62 kilometres<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Stage 1:<\/strong> Calas de Mallorca \u2013 Manacor (25 km)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Stage 2:<\/strong> Manacor \u2013 Son Carri\u00f3 (23 km)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Stage 3:<\/strong> Son Carri\u00f3 \u2013 Art\u00e0 (23.2 km)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Stage 4:<\/strong> Art\u00e0 \u2013 Cala Mesquida (22.6 km)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The route also includes <strong>two additional access links<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Son Maci\u00e0:<\/strong> 3.3 km<\/li>\n<li><strong>Costa de los Pinos:<\/strong> 7.7 km<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This layout allows the experience to suit the <strong>time available or physical condition<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3>Strengthening the island\u2019s GR trail network<\/h3>\n<p>GR 226 joins the network of long-distance routes alongside the <strong>Ruta de Pedra en Sec GR 221<\/strong>, which currently links Port d\u2019Andratx with Port de Pollen\u00e7a, and the <strong>Art\u00e0\u2013Lluc Route GR 222<\/strong>. The full implementation of these projects will create an <strong>approximate network of 585 kilometres of signposted long-distance trails<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3>Opening of the new hiking route in Mallorca<\/h3>\n<p>The second vice-president of the Consell and Minister for Environment, Rural Affairs and Sport, <strong>Pedro Bestard<\/strong>, said that \u201ctoday is a great day, as we can confirm a further extension of Mallorca\u2019s GR network and the Consell\u2019s commitment to preserving paths, nature and heritage, as well as promoting responsible, high-quality tourism\u201d. He added: \u201cThe Consell de Mallorca includes these new GR routes in the sports activities we run for families and older people, with a very positive response, as they allow people to get to know Mallorca through physical activity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bestard took part in the inauguration event, which included a 6 km walk to Hotel La Taconera with around a hundred older participants from the <em><strong>Mou-te!<\/strong><\/em> groups.<\/p>\n<p>The event also included the island directors for Sport, <strong>Toni Prats<\/strong>; Environment, <strong>Llu\u00eds Rub\u00ed<\/strong>; and Tourism, <strong>Pere Mas<\/strong>; the president of the <strong>Balearic Federation of Mountaineering and Climbing<\/strong>, <strong>Xisco Fanals<\/strong>; and mayors and councillors from the five municipalities: <strong>Manuel Gal\u00e1n<\/strong> (Art\u00e0), <strong>N\u00faria Garcia<\/strong> (Capdepera), <strong>Miguel Oliver<\/strong> (Manacor), <strong>Jaume Servera<\/strong> (Son Servera) and <strong>Joan Mestre<\/strong>, Tourism councillor for Sant Lloren\u00e7 des Cardassar.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hiking in Mallorca adds a new option with the opening <a href=\"https:\/\/mallorcaglobalmag.es\/en\/senderismo-mallorca-ruta-gr226-llevant\/\"> [&#8230;]<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":4,"featured_media":152653,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[1520,1513],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-152660","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-environment","category-society"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v25.2 -
