This is reflected in the <em>Report of the Balearic Islands School Liaison Police Programme (Policia Tutor)<\/em> for the <strong>2024\u20132025 academic year<\/strong>, presented by the Director General for Emergencies and Home Affairs of the Balearic Government, <strong>Pablo G\u00e1rriz<\/strong>, and the Programme coordinator, <strong>Rafel Covas<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The most significant finding in the report is the <strong>overall reduction in police interventions<\/strong>. In total, officers recorded <strong>5% fewer interventions than in the previous academic year<\/strong>, reinforcing the perception that school-related conflicts are being contained. During 2024\u20132025 there were <strong>5,786 interventions<\/strong>, of which <strong>2,482<\/strong> took place in the school setting, <strong>3,029<\/strong> involved minors outside educational centres, and <strong>275<\/strong> were related to new technologies, the internet and social media.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-152506 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/mallorcaglobalmag.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Acoso-escolar-Balears.webp\" alt=\"School bullying in the Balearic Islands\" width=\"780\" height=\"518\" \/><\/p>\n<p>As regards <strong>school bullying in the Balearic Islands<\/strong>, the 2024\u20132025 academic year recorded <strong>181 cases<\/strong>, compared with <strong>184<\/strong> in 2023\u20132024, while <strong>conflicts between pupils<\/strong> fell by <strong>8%<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3>Fewer offences and fewer incidents in educational centres<\/h3>\n<p>The <em>Report<\/em> shows a <strong>general decrease in interventions of a criminal and public-safety nature<\/strong> in educational centres across the Balearic Islands during 2024\u20132025. Key indicators include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Theft and burglary<\/strong>: 59 cases, <strong>49% fewer<\/strong> than the previous academic year.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Alleged offences<\/strong>: 428 interventions, representing a <strong>19% decrease<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Damage to facilities and vehicles<\/strong>: 65 cases, <strong>4% fewer<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Serious confrontations with teaching staff<\/strong>: 130 cases, virtually unchanged from 2023\u20132024.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In terms of public safety, interventions linked to the school environment also fell, with <strong>35% fewer actions involving expelled pupils<\/strong> and <strong>64% fewer identifications of suspects<\/strong> in the vicinity of schools.<\/p>\n<h3>Drugs, vapes and absenteeism<\/h3>\n<p>The report also highlights other risk behaviours among minors. The use and possession of drugs within educational centres fell by <strong>24%<\/strong>, although there was a notable increase in the use of <strong>vapes and tobacco<\/strong> on school premises, rising from 48 to <strong>92 cases<\/strong> in a single academic year.<\/p>\n<p>Outside the school setting, drug-related interventions increased to <strong>106 cases<\/strong>, 27 more than the previous academic year. School absenteeism remains broadly stable, though it edged up slightly, from <strong>372 to 385 cases<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3>Prevention of school bullying in the Balearic Islands<\/h3>\n<p>The Balearic Government attributes these results largely to the preventive work carried out by the <strong>102 school liaison officers<\/strong> in educational centres across the islands. Throughout 2024\u20132025, <strong>2,049 prevention sessions<\/strong> were delivered, involving <strong>52,396 pupils<\/strong> and <strong>544 parents<\/strong>. The sessions covered issues such as peer bullying, responsible use of new technologies, legal and illegal drugs, and the Safer Parties programme.<\/p>\n<p>At present, <strong>63 municipalities<\/strong> in the Balearic Islands are part of the Policia Tutor Programme, which has been in place since the <strong>2008\u20132009 academic year<\/strong>. The overall assessment remains positive: educational centres rated the work of the liaison officers with an average score of <strong>4.5 out of 5<\/strong>, consolidating a programme which, according to the <em>Report<\/em>, is beginning to deliver results in tackling <strong>school bullying in the Balearic Islands<\/strong> and improving coexistence in classrooms.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;When it comes to school bullying, the Government of Marga Prohens will never look the other way,&#8221; said Pablo G\u00e1rriz, adding: &#8220;Ensuring the safety and protection of our sons and daughters, and eradicating bullying and violence in classrooms and in the school environment, are priorities for this Government.
