Every year, on <strong>16 and 17 January<\/strong>, Mallorca \u2013 and especially the Part Forana \u2013 fills with <strong>fire, music, tradition and symbolism<\/strong> to honour Sant Antoni Abat, patron saint of animals and a central figure in Mallorcan popular culture. Towns such as <strong>Sa Pobla, Manacor, Art\u00e0 and Muro<\/strong>, among many others, contribute their own nuances, characters and traditions, making Sant Antoni a diverse and rich celebration, united by the same spirit.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_152072\" style=\"width: 790px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-152072\" class=\"size-full wp-image-152072\" src=\"https:\/\/mallorcaglobalmag.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Dimonis-Arta-Teresa-Ayuga.webp\" alt=\"Dimonis Art\u00e0\" width=\"780\" height=\"520\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-152072\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><br \/>The <em>dimonis<\/em> are an essential element of the Sant Antoni festivities in Art\u00e0. Photo: Teresa Ayuga.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Beyond the specific events in each municipality, Sant Antoni represents a moment of collective gathering in which <strong>popular culture<\/strong> is lived intensely in the streets. The <em><strong>foguerons<\/strong><\/em> (bonfires), the <strong><em>dimonis<\/em><\/strong>, improvised <em><strong>gloses<\/strong><\/em>, <strong>traditional music<\/strong> and <strong>rituals<\/strong> handed down from generation to generation turn these dates into a shared experience that blends celebration with the ancestral. A <em>dimoni<\/em> costume dating from 1920 has been exhibited at the Museum of Costume in Madrid since 1975 due to the uniqueness of its heavy mask and striking outfit: a black cotton taffeta jumpsuit, oil-painted and decorated with snakes or asps coiling around the body, arms and legs.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The <strong>casa del trui<\/strong> is located this year at Carrer de Na Caragol, 2.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Friday, 16 January 2026<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>9:00 am \u2013<\/strong> Traditional <em>acapte pel poble<\/em> and first dance of the <em>dimonis<\/em>.
