During this period, <strong>88.9 cases per 100,000 inhabitants<\/strong> were recorded, compared with <strong>75 cases<\/strong> the previous week.<\/p>\n<p>The incidence varies across the different islands of the archipelago:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Mallorca:<\/strong> 90.7 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Ibiza:<\/strong> 87.7 cases.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Menorca:<\/strong> 78.3 cases.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Formentera:<\/strong> 51.8 cases.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All the islands remain within the same epidemiological scenario, although there are differences in the intensity of viral circulation.<\/p>\n<h3>Recommendations in response to the incidence of flu in the Balearic Islands<\/h3>\n<p>The Balearic Islands remain in <strong>Scenario I<\/strong> of the recommendations protocol for the control of infectious diseases drawn up by the Ministry of Health and the autonomous communities\u2019 public health representatives. Photo: CAIB.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The Regional Ministry of Health (Conselleria de Salut) reiterates the importance of <strong>flu vaccination<\/strong> during this epidemic period, with the aim of achieving high coverage in the shortest possible time.<\/p>\n<h3>Contingency plan in response to increased demand for healthcare<\/h3>\n<p>In order to deal with the rise in hospital admissions and the growing pressure on emergency departments caused by respiratory viruses, the Health Service (Servei de Salut) has an active <strong>contingency plan<\/strong> that \u043f\u0440\u0435\u0434\u0443\u0441\u043c\u0430\u0442\u0440\u0438\u0432\u0430\u0435\u0442 the activation of up to <strong>215 hospital beds<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>This plan relies on co-ordination between hospitals, primary care and SAMU 061 to ensure healthcare capacity.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Measures activated so far:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>25 beds activated today<\/strong> in non-profit partner centres:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>15 at Sant Joan de D\u00e9u Hospital in Palma<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>10 at Sant Joan de D\u00e9u Hospital in Inca<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>8 beds opened last week<\/strong> at Son Espases University Hospital.<\/li>\n<li><strong>24 beds enabled on 9 December<\/strong> in the H1D unit at Son Ll\u00e0tzer University Hospital.<\/li>\n<li>Staff reinforcement at Son Ll\u00e0tzer with the addition of <strong>11 nurses<\/strong> and <strong>7 nursing assistants (HCAs)<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The incidence of the flu in the Balearic Islands continues <a href=\"https:\/\/mallorcaglobalmag.es\/en\/gripe-balears-sigue-al-alza-semana-51-2025\/\"> [&#8230;]<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":4,"featured_media":151878,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[1518,1513],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-151880","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-health","category-society"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v25.2 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/wordpress\/plugins\/seo\/ -->\n<title>The flu in the Balearic Islands continues to rise - Mallorca Global Mag<\/title>\n<meta name=\"description\" content=\"Flu cases in the Balearics rise to 88.9 per 100,000 inhabitants in week 51 of 2025.
