The Consell de Mallorca<\/strong> has installed a new pedestrian walkway<\/strong> measuring 16 metres in length<\/strong> on the Pas d\u2019en Barqueta<\/strong> bridge, in Pollen\u00e7a<\/strong>. The work completes the comprehensive rehabilitation<\/strong> project for this infrastructure and improves safety on a heavily used stretch of the Ruta de Pedra en Sec<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The old wooden walkway was in an advanced state of deterioration. For this reason, the bridge was temporarily closed to avoid risks to pedestrians. With the new structure, the crossing is once again safe for hikers and walkers. The project included removing the previous walkway and installing a new one, made from Scots pine<\/strong>. The structure is divided into two sections, measuring 12 and 4 metres<\/strong>. In addition, the bridge abutments have been reinforced, as they were suffering structural issues due to erosion from the torrent and ground conditions.<\/p>\n

The works had a budget of \u20ac138,184<\/strong>. They were funded in full with resources from the Plans de Sostenibilitat Tur\u00edstica en Dest\u00ed<\/strong> (PSTD), drawn from the Pla de Recuperaci\u00f3, Transformaci\u00f3 i Resili\u00e8ncia<\/strong> (PRTR). The works were carried out by the public company TRAGSA<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Stage 7 of the Ruta de Pedra en Sec<\/strong><\/h2>\n

This bridge, popularly known in Pollen\u00e7a as \u201cpont romput\u201d<\/strong>, forms part of the route of the old road from Lluc<\/strong> to Pollen\u00e7a, which is under the authority of the Consell de Mallorca<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

It is located within the municipal area of Pollen\u00e7a<\/strong> and is integrated into stage 7<\/strong> of the Ruta de Pedra en Sec, which runs between Pollen\u00e7a and Lluc (refugi de So n\u2019Amer \u2013 refugi de Pont Rom\u00e0<\/strong>), one of the stages most used by walkers.<\/p>\n

The installation of the new walkway was attended by the Second Vice-President and Island Councillor for Environment, Rural Affairs and Sport, Pedro Bestard<\/strong>.
