The Consell de Mallorca<\/strong> has closed the 2025 summer campaign<\/strong> with a significant increase in its inspection activity<\/strong>. The Department of Tourism has carried out 3,043 inspections across the island<\/strong>, 19.1% more than in 2024<\/strong>. The main objective has been to strengthen control of tourist accommodation and curb illegal supply<\/strong>, which the Consell considers to be unfair competition<\/strong> that harms the sector and residents<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

More than 55% of the actions<\/strong> were focused on tackling unauthorised supply. The remaining 45% was devoted to verifying the legal offer and to specific control campaigns.<\/p>\n

Removal of more than 4,400 irregular adverts<\/h3>\n

Thanks to agreements with platforms such as Airbnb<\/strong> and Holidu<\/strong>, the department has managed to remove more than 4,400 adverts without a registration number<\/strong>. This figure is equivalent to more than 20,000 places<\/strong> offered irregularly. It is one of the most notable advances of the campaign.<\/p>\n

Increase in inspections of illegal supply<\/h3>\n

The tourism councillor, Jos\u00e9 Marcial Rodr\u00edguez<\/strong>, explained that 1,659 visits to illegal supply<\/strong> were carried out, three times more than in 2023. That year there was still no comparable inspection plan. The campaign has concluded with 144 infringement reports<\/strong> in homes with illegal rentals. This is fewer than the 245 recorded last year. The decrease is attributed to the mass removal of irregular adverts.<\/p>\n
